I agree with the high speeds delimma with the 4:1 T case, will find myself in 4th gear while in 4 low quite often with the 5 speed MT.

If I was doing it over, I'd build a non-rubi LJ since their prices aren't crazy. Modify to properly fit 35s with lockers. I've never wheeled without them and I think I'd find out quickly how much I miss them.
Yeah, I think I'd do a non-Rubi LJ too. They look pretty sweet on 35's (and even better on 37's). I'm pretty sure I could build a set of JK axles to handle 37's without too much drama. They are almost as inexpensive in the Dana 30/Dana 44 combo as TJ axles are.

My thoughts for a Rubi clone,

Dana 44 rear/Elocker/CM shafts
HP30 front/Elocker/CM shafts
JB Conversions HD NP231 TC with the thick chain and better planetaries. Geared properly, the 272:1 tc works better for sand/snow/slop.

Done!

37’s on an LJ is proper. The JK axles may be a way to get it done. I’d love to build out an LJ in the future.

Hey JMT......do you need some floor mats for your Jeep? I just took these out of mine. I think they are Quadratec or Rugged Ridge...the emblem came off. If you want them, they're yours since I'm getting the Dana 35 cover from you. They are a little dirty..... If you want them, I'll make sure my wife gets them all cleaned up before you get them.

@lowranger Those would work better than the ones I have now. They have a lip around the edges and that would be better for WA snow country. So yes, I’d love to have them. Thanks for thinking of me. My wife loves the part about your wife cleaning them up!

Okay....they're yours! My wife is a real trooper! She likes Jeeps, hunting and fishing and would rather hang with the guys.

Thanks! I’ve seen your wife behind some big guns and some nice kills over in the hunting thread!

I’m just hoping to get to WA so I can figure out what is going on there with hunting. Lots of public land, elk and white tail.

Absolutely I wil. @ac_ father lives an hour north of where I’ll live. He said that’s a viable opportunity and wildlife galore.

I’ve got two more slots in the HVAC. I really haven’t thought about it. I’m open to suggestions. My winch on/off and control switch are at the HVAC.
Here’s a couple of alternate switch mounting locations
