So,

As many on here know I have been working on a Kubota Turbo Diesel swap on my 2006 right had drive TJ Wrangler, which is still not running, and like always I'm surfing Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for Jeeps because I'm a Jeepaholic . . .

SO I found an ad that seems too good to be true. 2005 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 142K all original with the NSG370 6-speed manual a little over 2 hours from my house. Here's the kicker on this Wrangler LJR the price? $6000. Here is the proof, Facebook won't let me open the entire ad anymore but here is the screenshot:

Once I got there I confirmed it had Dana 44s in the front and rear, the locker switch underneath the radio, the NP241 transfer case and the VIN code for the Rubicon since it's missing the sticker! Turns out the radiator has a bad leak and the muffler is rusted away and it needs a new top but everything else works and really straight. Well 4 days of messaging the seller and now this is in my driveway:

I have never ridden in a LJ Wrangler Unlimited before, and the ride quality vs my TJ is night and day different. I honestly never thought an extra 10 inches of wheelbase could make that much difference. The biggest problem is I want to start swapping a diesel into this LJR and I haven't even finished my other swap yet.

Also I don't think my wife is going to let me get another vehicle for the next few years now as well . . . which I mean kind of makes sense. I have my 2006 Liberty CRD Turbo Diesel, my 2006 Right Hand Drive TJ Wrangler, my 1947 CJ-2A, a 1970 DJ-5A Postal Jeep and now this 2005 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Living on 5 acres of land is dangerous for a Jeepaholic like myself.

Let me know what you think!

Wow that’s an amazing find! Please please finish the Kubota 😂😂

The Kubota is getting close, I need to update the thread, I'm behind on updates honestly, but I took a long break over Christmas. I actually thought I was going to work on it over Christmas and ended up taking two weeks off to spend with family and friends to recharge and it did me a world of good!

Good score and deal if it's got a clean enough base to build on. I'm assuming it does.

Agreed on what 10 more inches of wheelbase does for the ride. I almost bought one a few years ago,and was amazed what that lil bit of extra length does.

You sure you haven't lost track of any? Survey your property, you might find one you forgot about

Yeah the frame is super solid for being here in Virginia, the only rust is the nasty aftermarket muffler that is getting replaced, I'm debating getting banks muffler to replace it.

Nice! They take the Rubicon decals off?

I'm not sure, though I know I really want them back on. Does anyone know where I can find the Rubicon stickers and what is the best way to install them?

Thats . . . a very real possibility

Awesome find! I also would have bought that in a second, so great buy from another LJ owner, non-Rubi though. I do recommend the Banks exhaust, I put that exhaust on my LJ last summer and all is good. I am also an audio addict and I can hear my music crystal clear with no top and the banks exhaust.

Nice score!

Recent Craigslist goose-chases and stories like this make it tempting to re-join FB just for Marketplace.

I'll say this, Facebook Marketplace has the WORST search in the the world and the 100 miles radius is annoying as crap but you don't have the scams that Craigslist has and I've been get a crap done of stupid stellar deals on Facebook Marketplace. I really only use my Facebook account for the Marketplace. I've also had really good luck selling on the Marketplace as well.

Thank you so much! That is what I was worried about, I'll order it today so I can get this Wrangler with a current inspection! I'm itching to get it out on the trails and on the road!

Here is a review I did on it. With a manual tranny you will have more control over the sound, like between 2.5k and 3k RPMs it is louder than at 2k RPMs, and at 2k at RPMs it is quiet. I also have a lot of audio upgrades.

Thank you so much, just ordered the kit off of Amazon based on your review!

Nice price, congrats! Maybe if you sell one your wife will forgive you. ;)

But but but I need the 1947 CJ-2A for the "real" Jeep cred and I need the Liberty CRD Turbo Diesel for the 4 doors and great fuel economy and I need the 2006 TJ Right Hand Drive because that is my first diesel swap and I need the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon for the increase comfort and hauling capacity and I need the 1970 DJ-5A with the powerglide automatic for . . . . um . . . drag racing? . . . yeah that offroad drag racing!!!

Their Marketplace is the only reason I'm on Facebook. My account is set to private and I just use it to buy and sell things.
