The good news thread

how is the inventory out there? do people even want to show you a house now?

My realtor says it’s too soon to tell. She said she’s seen a lot more houses come on the market, but also some people pulling their houses. It’s mixed as of right now, but I’ve still found plenty of homes we like.

Yep, that’s the plan. We should be able to move by June assuming all goes as planned.
My dead mother-in-laws house is going on the market soon, and the realtor said she will show it to a prospective buyer one at a time. No open house though.

Yep, my realtor told me that as well. No open houses, but they still do showings. Makes perfect sense I suppose.

It sure did! Thank goodness too, that’s one less thing to worry about.

Now I get to go through the home buying process... yay 😐
Awesome timing!! Now you’re in a buyer’s market and don’t have to do anything rash.

I sure like the climate by Prescott AZ.

We sold a home in the spring of 2017....after 1.5 years on the market! (Illinois) after the 2016 election the inventory of houses for sale dropped substantially. The listing expired in January and we were able to sell it by owner on Zillow for about $25K more than the realtor was asking in the fall.

I never realized how much the buyer’s mortgage company could jerk the whole process around. Pushing the closing back day by day. Having the buyer write a letter stating “why they want to move”. Finally after some choice words and moving to another title company office 40 miles away we got the closing in at 8:30 pm. No money! Had to wait for the next day for wired funds and to hand the keys to the buyer.

It's not so much a buyers market in Arizona still. It's a competitive market and most homes don't last a week before they have multiple offers.

I was fortunate in that the mortgage company for my buyers seemed to be really good. No jerking around, and they closed in 30 days as promised.

I live in West Texas next to New Mexico and South Colorado area. We would gladly welcome you to the dry heat states! No rusty rigs around here. . . and lots of good quality guns!

It will be a return for me. I lived in Arizona from 2008 to 2012. Some of my most fond memories are there.

I received a full $1,365 credit on my credit card statement yesterday for a couple plane tickets to London 🤑. Obviously the flight was cancelled by the airline some time ago but due to the process British Airways put in place (choice between re-booking anywhere within a year with a full credit or refund), the refund process could only be done over the phone and you couldn't call (strongly encouraged not to anyway) until 72 hours before your flight due to extremely high volume. I was leaving this past Friday so I called a couple days before, surprisingly I was only on hold for about 15 minutes & the whole call took about a minute after that, then it took another 4 days to show up on my credit card. I'm pretty happy about that all things considered, some airlines, travel agencies & other travel related vendors aren't being as accommodating with refunds and so forth.

I didn't book any hotels or anything else so there was nothing else to cancel except I did buy two Eurostar (Tube) tickets for what would have been a 3 day jaunt to Paris tomorrow morning; tickets were $270 round trip for both of us & 'non-refundable'. I emailed customer service a week ago to see if there was any special exceptions to that policy given the circumstances but I haven't heard back from them. Decided to file a dispute with my credit card company, we'll see, I'm not holding my breath but figured it was worth a shot.

It's funny, I bought those plane tickets about 6 months ago so I know I'm only getting my own money back but it somehow still feels like a windfall

that's an awesome photo! Hope you guys had a blast
Thank you!. It’s nice a 17 year old wants to hang with his dad.. I’m sure there are no other reasons😂.. but we had fun

It was a nice enough day to take the DeSoto out for an Easter Drive.
