You will be impressed.
So I'm told. That is the missing piece of this puzzle / build
You will be impressed.
Me too and that’s why I bought them. But if they really were tuned for savvy why did they drop ship them to me from the Midwest? It would be one thing if they drop shipped from fox but they didn’t... they also hurt my back on long rides so I really started questioning if these were anything special.
What did savvy say? 3rd party information is hard to trust when it’s a guy who once worked at a place. Regardless, them being tuned specifically vs generally will make a difference. A general tune for the approximate weight vs your specific weight will probably look and feel different.
All I can say is the Fox shocks I installed vs the previous ranchos are worlds apart.

How many people do you think work at savvy?
Fox IFPs I assume? Do you like them better than the Rancho RS5000X?
Ranchos are good budget shocks, but they’re still budget friendly shocks. For what they are they are great, but the fox setup is a whole other level. Less body roll, more firmness, rebound is better, and the overall ride is less harsh.
I don’t think that’s relevant, does your company do 100% everything in-house?
See, that's why it's so hard to recommend shocks to people.
On my first black TJ Rubicon, I had Bilstein 5100s. I personally thought those shocks rode great. Yet you come on here and everyone bitches about how they ride like shit. I rode in @psrivats TJ not too long ago with them as well, and I thought they rode great on his also.
Shocks are so subjective. I will say the Rancho RS5000X did provide a nice ride on my former TJ, but these Fox shocks feel better if you ask me. Not to mention they at least have a nicer finish. Those Ranchos are so cheaply made it's almost ridiculous![]()
It seems to be based on the setup, and in some instances exposure. A few buddies loved their bilsteins when they had fatter rigs with steel everything. Some of those same guys have since trimmed down their rig and now hate the same shocks.
I think the Rancho fame is mostly just a cost/performance function. For $50 a corner they’re great and probably the average TJ owner would be happy with them.
My company does not do everything in house but they do a lot of it. What does savvy do in house? Besides LS swaps?
I don’t know why you’re picking about savvy here, but I don’t work there nor have any need to defend them. However whatever they do there’s some good engineering in it. So if they produce it or tune it or manufacture it or not, isn’t really relevant to the end user.
Maybe I don’t understand why you asked how many people work at savvy. I really don’t care since that’s not a terribly useful metric.
I have given savvy more money than I bought my jeep for. I wouldn’t run ANY other product(besides those IFPs). I also wouldn’t recommend any other product. But they are not a big business.
I asked you how many people you thought worked there because you downplayed the credibility of a previous employee. I’m not talking about the kid that works out back. The guy that answers the phones(back when they answered their phones).
All of the ones I've experienced are not what I would call harsh. They do a pretty good job of taking the sting out of bigger events, it is the small events that suck. Coarse pavement, small rocks, gravel, pocket change laying in the road, all show up as annoying when the tires run over them. That isn't harshness though. After having tuned shocks, I can see why Bilsteins are called a harsh shock.

I enjoy my ranchos and new AR. Have the AR in middle setting. Yes there is body roll when I whip it around corners but unless I intentionally drive very aggressive it feels adequately stiff.Maybe Bilsteins withe AR. The ride characteristics with no sway bar, or the AR is quite different. I can say this much, the Ranchos disco'd is very forgiving.
