When ya'll hit your diff and stop forward progress, spinning the tires in hopes that some sort of magic is going to happen is a bad idea. We have seen the tires pick up rocks and cycle them through the wheel wells and that is a bad day. You wind up with us doing this so you don't wind up with what happened in the bottom two pics.

Did it pick up a rock after stacking them to get off the diff or was it just floor it to see what happens?

yikes that's dug in deep, how much of a PITA was it to get that sucker out?

Neither, both, doesn't matter. If it won't go, spinning the tires will not generally do anything good. You kick out stacked rocks, you pick up rocks that are not stacked, and you dig deeper holes which pins you harder on your stick point.
