If you plan on taking the kids wheeling I'd forget about the fastback cage. Wouldn't you be removing THIER protection?

The kids don’t give two shits about wheeling for some reason, maybe my boy will when he’s old enough. That’s the reason for the fastback and spare in the tub. At this point it’s going to be almost exclusively a trail rig that I may on occasion drive in-town. No one wants to be in the back. The girls say “it’s too bumpy!” in the most whiny voice possible
Thanks for pointing that out. I thought when it said it fit a stock cage that it would fit a stock cage.
That is Poly's cage before they discontinued it. Likely due to all the fucktards selling the much easier to install bent angle piece of shit down legs.
I was just going by the pic which is not of the stock roll cage.
I went by the link. But I’m not convinced I need harnesses at this point.
FYI my baja rs seats look amazing, they didn’t send the adapters so I can’t install them yet.
Do you have any photos of how it mounts behind the dash? I would like to see that so that I can show it to the guy who is going to install my cage. He says he’s done tons of them, but I obviously want some guidelines to go by. He said he will build it whatever way I want him to, so I would like to make sure it’s done right.
Not easy to pull when you have a cage that is like this. This is a 2005 Poison Spyder Sport Cage. But they make a great spot for mounting tweeters.

This might seem silly to you, but I don’t know much of anything about cages or building them.
Nobody but an idiot welds a cage to the tub. I have never seen a cage welded to the tub. All cages I have ever been around, seen, built and or installed have flat pads or feet that either bolt to the tub in one plane or are sandwich plates that get picked up on the other side by an identical plate for a leg or tube that then goes to the frame.
Do not weld tubes directly to the frame that go up to sandwich plates since you have now circumvented the body mounts. If you tie into the frame (really fucking stupid if you don't have a cage) use bushing mounts and tabs.
The reason I am confused is you asked how it mounts behind the dash. It doesn't just like the B pillar doesn't and the C pillar doesn't. They are constructed from tubes that land on mounting plates that are bolted to the tub.
When I said "weld to the tub", what I meant is that the tube was attached to a backing plate and then welded to the tub. Similar to how the factory does it, but welded as opposed to bolted. Is there a plate on the underside of the tub for the factory b-pillar and c-pillar? To be honest, I've never actually looked to see if there was a plate on the underside.
I get what you're saying though. I'm trying to compile questions and knowledge so that when I do go to someone who builds me a cage, I can talk to them and make sure that they actually know what they are doing. Some of the people I've talked to may or may not know what they are doing, but at least if I understand the basics I'll know who is blowing smoke and who actually knows their shit.
So the smart way to do this is like the factory does with a plate.
I don't think you'd be surprised if I said there is probably some shop out there who would weld it directly to the tub.
I mean look what the assholes did with my last outboard shock job and cutting into the frame for the reservoir. Would you ever think someone would be do stupid as to do that? I certainly wouldn't have.

These are nice. I should learn how to weld, this just isn’t where I want to start. Not to mention I’m very busy these days so it would take me a lot longer than I would want it to.
How about just no? He won't have a cage, it doesn't need to be tied into anything if it isn't a cage.
