REAL WORLD COMPARISON: OEM Anti-Sway Bar w/ Disconnects vs. Antirock Off-Road Sway Bar vs. SwayLOC Dual Rate Anti Swaybar System

I’ve had an Antirock sway bar in my basket at Quadratec and summit for what seems an eternity. Finally getting serious enough to order one, but then read this. 🙄
unfortunately for me, living in Australia, the government puts additional tax on anything privately imported over $1000AU, which the swayloc is just over. So ends up being about double the cost of an Antirock 🤬

Might just buy the Antirock after all.

If you ever plan on a rtt,you have to have the swayloc,it even helps the Jeep on curvy roads.and it’s nice to then flip the switch and have an antirock.

How much will you pay me to ship you my anti-rock?

RTT, is that road trip? Yes, I think, where I live it wouldn’t matter to much, but to future proof for all scenarios the swayloc sounds like (after reading this post string) the superior choice

It's definitely not worth double. I ran the AR for many years and got used to it, it's really not that bad. Only switched to the SL after riding in a Jeep that had one.

I skipped the AR and went right to the SL and felt a difference over the stock setup with JKS discos. Could be worn out factory bushings, but it was a huge improvement. The only downside is the noise as mentioned above, a bunch of low speed clicking.

Look about right? A bit less coin than your selection.

Finishing the SL install this afternoon so re-read the thread and found your links. Might as well have them on hand to swap if/when needed.

TIA

Looking forward to the test drive.

The part number looks different, but I didn't spend much time making sense of it. What I got were the higher misalignment rod ends because the 12" shock travel was binding the ones SL provided.

You aren't in control of that space. That is controlled by the width of the notches on the ends of the two torsion bars and the width of the tube that goes through the frame that the bars sit in. The two sets of arms need to be roughly flush with the end of each torsion bar. If that leaves a small gap between the inner and outer arm on the right side, that's fine, if it doesn't, that is fine as well.
This is such good news. Just finishing up the SL passenger side and find no gap. The instructions made me shudder.

As stated, roughly parallel to the ground to start, move up if they can invert under full droop, but not so high that they run into something above the frame like the grill or inner fender.

Good starting point?

10" shock, jacked up to 5" showing, SL set at 0*, level with floor.
@ Ride height 3.7* D, 3.9* P

Confirm whether/where there's contact?
Ya, I can do that. Wonder if my buddy will volunteer his forklift 😉.

Gotta say it feels pretty good thru the roundabout and at 60 mph.

You don't need a forklift. You know how to cycle axles already. Now imagine how you would get the sway bar up move up and down with the axle without it twisting at the torsion bar(s).

One of my experiences with the Swayloc was when I was exploring around Daniel Boone National Forest in KY in my TJ. I had the lever flipped for the single torsion while going through old service roads and trails, and I hit a few murky water crossings. Get done with the trails for the day and set the lever back for on-road and figured after I get driving the lock would shift back. Drove like 1-1/2 hr on windy hilly roads back to the cabin to find out the lock never moved back because there was so much crud it was jammed, so I was driving on-road with the single bar the entire time. During that drive I did not notice any difference between the single and dual bar. Probably did not notice it since I did not have a lot of weight with me and was running the soft top. Just figured I would throw out my personal experience with it.

My LJ would greatly benefit having a Swayloc since it will see a lot of on-road miles to go to different places, so I am partially considering getting an Antirock for the TJ and moving the Swayloc to the LJ. But then again I also might just get another Swayloc since I do like how it drives on the TJ and know what to expect.

Yep,sounds about right,I know night and day difference from my antirock vs swayloc with the tent on the roof.the sway loc turned the rooftop tent from terrifying to pleasant in wind!

Thanks for posting this! My new to me LJ came with the Teraflex S/T Swaybar kit. This kit is great for on the highway but the minute I get on dirt and flip it to trail mode i'm not happy at all. Tons of body roll as its fully unlocked. Come to find out the Teraflex setup offers ZERO resistance when in trail mode hence the excess body roll which i'm not a fan of. My TJ has currie anti-rock front and rear and I was going to swap the Teraflex with the Currie system until I discovered this thread. Now i'm going to go straight to the SwayLOC and toss the teraflex setup in the garbage unless someone wants to buy it. Can't wait to get this ordered and installed.

I just received my new air actuated SwayLoc today to replace my Antirock. I figured there has to be a reason it's on the passenger side because it's not as convenient to access versus the driver side.

You're thinking the wrong way - its on the passenger side so your wife can get to it quick when you tell her! ;)
