See pic below for more context; I wrapped them from the cage to the to the bottom links so they would apply pressure at the corner and force it into the panels. I did the same for the corner armor, but with the straps going the other direction to make sure the corner was as tight as possible. I also used a shit ton of clamps, but painter’s tape would have definitely helped.

I like the ratchet strap idea, going to use that when I finalize placement. The video helped, but definitely had to mock both up first to get everything lined up. IMO, it was easier to mock the rockers and adjust the corner armor to get everything lined up just like klay’s video.

Yes sir.

The version tested by @Swiss-cheese TJ-6 (thanks again) mounts by cutting off the upper windshield hinge barrel and stacking the body side lower hinge barrel on top. The flack jackets that are cut around the hinges leave the hinge barrel being only supported by the sheet metal and it seems like that somewhat defeats the purpose, I wanted to support the hinges. Now that this has been test fit and proved possible I can make some more variations.

I am working on fenders and the corner rub rails right now so the half door skins for this kit are further down the line.

Sliders first then corner armor. Corner armor had more adjustment. Installing them all at the same time like Klay’s video is nice but like he did, start with the slider first.

Good info on these threads that applies to a great design like Klay’s stuff too.

Sign me up. I guess I better switch steel to aluminum corner armor when I do skins too.

@Wildman "IF these work out do you have plans to offer the flares in different widths" Yes I will most likely offer two widths. We don't have fender coverage laws or they are not enforced if we do. From looking at the needs I would imagine a 4" and 6". TBD.

@Rickstar321 Thanks for the input, I do appreciate the feedback. The flare has to not flop around at 80 on the highway, this is easier said then done. The devil is in the details, nothing is as simple as it seems. I am not into that aesthetic. I am a function then form guy but the form has to be there or I wont use the function.

@tworley "I like the look of the standard 0 flare" Thanks, this is the version I will be running.

The fenders and and removable flares are intended for those with strict tire coverage laws. It is what it is. The idea is that they are easily removed for the trails. The flare is going to be made from 1/8 material. They need to be strong enough to keep their shape at 80 on the highways and withstand mud and snow being flung on to them. The flares are not designed to be smashed on rocks. Drive to the trail, zip them off and leave at camp or toss in the back, go have fun.

You cant damage what's not there. The Zero fender offers the most clearance. The Standard fender offers a little more coverage and will have the option to add the removable flare.

5” flares would be ideal for us tire coverage people (PA). I’m trailering to go wheel, so removable flares would be incredible.

I am almost to the "ideal flare width" question lol.. The rear flares are easy, fronts are little more complex. I am 90 percent done with the fender base, as soon as I finish test fitting parts the flare width discussion will begin. I will not be making one off flares, sorry I just don't have the time. I will need to dial them into maybe 2 width versions. One would be better lol.

Th flares are for you folks in states where it matters. We don't have fender laws that are enforced in FL so I wont be running them. I avoid mud at all cost. The rare time it happens I just wash everything.

Agree. 5" if you just do 1.

A good wheeling trip for me is when the pile doesn't need a wash. I hate mud. But it's almost impossible to avoid it.

Stock Rubi flares are 4.5" and seem to be the sweet spot. The bestop 6" were too wide and didn't mess with the look of the TJ. The 8" flat fender stuff just looks like an airplane to me. I hate inspection laws here, but it's an annual thing.

Ya love the 4inch. If given an only one option 4.5- 5 could be my vote as a 12.5 on most 3.5/4in backspacing wheels sit just a little wider than a 4inch flare but I never liked the look of super wide flares.
That’s coming from someone who’s ran 3inch flares with 12.5 wides and never been pulled over because the use of flares to begin with seems to be enough, it’s not exactly how much tire coverage is needed just that their is some. If exact tire coverage is needed I’d be curious on what those guys prefer if a 5 inch is even enough.

8" MC flares here....

I know you're not really discussing it yet but I'd do the 4" & 6"..... And DAMN you answered my one question about doing "one off" versions on the flares...

To cover all tires you’d need a 10” version. That is never going to happen.

4-4.5” is a happy medium IMO. Any wider and lots of rigs start to look silly. Any narrower and why have a flare at all?

Of course, I’m running a 0” on one rig and a 4” on another, so that’s my bias. YMMV

wife gifted me the flux front bumper for Christmas and it's hands down the highest quality bumper I've had on any of my jeeps.
any possibility of making a bullbar in the future?

Savvy makes one tall enough to clear a upright safety thimble, or barnes offers a pre-bent tube that you can weld to a couple base plates. I went the barnes route--but have plans to make it taller to clear the thimble.

@The4bangertj brought up a good point. If you don't have "full" coverage and are not being ticketed what is the desire to have 8 inch flares based on? Do you wheel muddy trails often and just prefer more coverage? Just wondering.

Here in WA the "rule" is full tire coverage but in the last 5-10 years they seem to be more lax on enforcing it. Back before my Jeep had gotten parked in 2012 I'd been pulled over 3 times for flares on my Jeep & once in my truck. Here it's a deal more due to the rain and spray from the tires blinding cars next to you or behind you.

But NOW they don't seem to be enforcing it as much?? But then I haven't been driving the Jeep without the flares much either... My GOAL when I'd bought the flares was to have as much coverage as possible to hopefully make popo not pull me over. But I also don't really drive it on the roads much since those tires cost too much to wear out on pavement.

Which is why I'd again say if you're going to offer 2 widths 4" & 6" would cover most. If only one width then I'd say go with 4" or 5".... But that is just me.

These were BestTop 7" flares.... And why I was getting pulled over.

I don't have any good pictures of it with the Poison Spyder fenders & armor w/ 3" flares but you can imagine how much my tires stuck out.

I'm not as worried about it now since the Jeep is trailered 90% of the time. If I get a ticket then I guess I get one.

Thanks, I am glad you like it!. Yes. 1.5 Tube in 304 SS to match my other materials. The place I use to laser cut parts just got a new tube laser and I sent the tube to my guy this morning for him to look at. Not sure on a time frame for availability.

What does this height need to be?

Ill measure when I get home. If you're using a fairlead that places the thimble on top, you have to let out enough rope to be able to manipulate the thimble either sideways or towards the grill before you can snake it under the Barnes tube. Its a minor complaint overall of the Barnes tube, but it bothers me not being able to quickly pull the thimble away when needed.
