What did you do to your other vehicle today?

Make sure you get the upgraded tie rods that don't snap off..

That's exactly what happened to this Bronco in front of me a couple weeks ago on the John Bull gatekeeper in Big Bear, CA. Luckily he had spare tie rods with him.

Apparently a weak point on the Bronco.

Got a chance to use the tree saver that I bought recently and a snatch block that I have been carrying for a while and have never gotten a chance to use.

What started as replacing an exhaust hanger on my wife’s ranger turned into a full muffler delete. Redneck engineering at its finest right here. I’m proud of this awful hack job I did.

The time I spent doing this was supposed to be spent replacing the condenser. Maybe tomorrow…

Finally got my 70 k20 looking like a truck again for the first time in a decade! Repowered with a 5.3l LS and nv4500.

Got it fired up last weekend and had my father come over today to help put the bed and other sheetmetal back on.together enough to take it for a test drive, smiles all around. So close to street legal now!

The LJ escape pod ('04 Bimmer MINI) failed emissions testing last time around. It actually failed two years before, but the codes "magically" went away and I passed on retest. Not so lucky this time. I noted the purchase of a smoke machine in the tool thread and use to diagnose a potential problem.

She failed on two codes, one relating to O2 and the other an evap system leak. While trying to solve the two known issues, a third appeared as well, story of my life . Anyway, onward and upward. Smoke testing indicated a leaking leak detection pump (the irony) and faulty O2 sensors seemed like a good place to start.

Ordered a new leak detection pump and two new NTK O2 sensors and installed them last evening and this morning, respectively. Disconnected the battery, reset the codes and went on a three hour round trip drive. At the risk of jinxing my self, the SES light would appear to have cleared, though I haven't had the sack to check for pending codes in Torque yet... :D

Well dammit, i think I'll be looking for another 14 bolt for the chebby.... maybe a newer one with disc brakes?

When life gives you lemons you might as well turn it into a 2006 disc brake 14 bolt! The usual spring pad/shock mount/e brake cable mods to come. Losing the enormous drums on the 1978 axle is probably going to save over 50 lbs

Shave it, shave it, shave it...

The old MBZ has been pulling to the left a bit on moderate (and above) braking. The other day, the brakes momentarily didn't want to work very well. WAAAAY too hot to deal with right now, so I took it to the local shop. New calipers, pads and rotors for the front are on order, it goes back tomorrow. Not cheap, but the calipers have 353K miles on them, they don't owe me anything. The pads on the front have plenty of meat left on them - I can't remember when I changed them last - the rears have about 50K on them, the fronts a lot more.
