3.73's on the 5-speed AX-15 has been one of the main weak links though.
More than once I've said to myself "I wish I would've just bought an auto..."
Excited to see how the 4.88's feel.
Hopefully it helps give me that consistent crawl speed I'm itching for, versus the 3k RPM clutch burning masterpiece I've got right now.

4.88s are gonna be niiiiice. I can't wait til I can afford to regear lol. See if you can find a video of @gasiorv wheeling. I was on the auto kick last year but watching him wheel pretty much convinced me you don't need it lol

low gears plus a $40 hand throttle it will be like whole new rig
That's what I've heard.
Have looked into the hand throttles a bit.
Think I need a bit more seat time getting used to it, before I do that though.
I've only had a TJ for about 4 months now.
Baby steps. lol
NGL I am kinda on the same side of the fence as Jerry on these... Do wish I had one for winching still, though
I don't know how he feels about it but in my book it was a game changer.
Just says you don't need it. I feel like it'd be hard to retrain yourself to use it after a few years without but maybe I'm wrong
that may be true with an auto but I consider it indispensable with a manual transmission.
I've looked at it from the sole standpoint of crawling rocks.
I'm bouncing, the Jeep is bouncing, my throttle is bouncing, my clutch foot is bouncing...and because of that combination, the tires are bouncing and chirping.
Feel as though a hand throttle would give some good consistency to maintain traction.
Since Basket mentioned Victor, Victor likely had full control of his throttle in this pic. He's got skills.
I push my foot against the trans tunnel and pivot it from there. A lot more smoov
