GM3800 Supercharged Engine Swap

So, I have owned a Bonneville SSEI and I loved that damn car. it was a boat but was really fun to drive and when you stop it that boy was loud.
I thought about doing a swap to this engine in the TJ

GM 3800 supercharged
The engine puts out based on years 240-260HP and around 280ftlbs torque. Novak sells adapters to the ax15 so wouldnt be to shabby and might be pretty fun on long drives.

Seems like a lot f work for minimal gain. Any idea what it would cost total? A stroker would easily give you that much power, and more torque. Plus it would be a bolt in.

Well the motor isnt the big cost its the adapter kit. I would do all the swap my self minus the computer tuning. I think it would be fun. Its a big gain over the 2.5 4 banger. Ive had my fun with the I6 over the years and the I4. a v8 is cool but idk just thinking of something out in left field

The adapter kit isn't the big cost, it's all the other things you aren't thinking of that are going to add up and make this cost a lot more than you are thinking for very limited gains and to be "unique."

I think it's totally doable. We still have a Pontiac GTP and it always had problems and my wife got it when we were both in school and we didn't have any money and no where to work on it. From what I was used to at the time it was a slow poke.

I still haven't gotten rid of it, though I should have, because I keep meaning to rebuild it. I'm pretty sure there's potential for more power safely. I think the problems were the transmissions couldn't handle it. I think it would be similar to a mild V8 once you were finished, but smaller. Of course you could get there with a 4.0 Supercharger too, but since you're starting with a 2.5, maybe the 3.8 would be just as much trouble?

You might also think of sticking with like a 4L80E or something too (I'm not a GM guy I've got no idea what transmission go where), but I don't know what you're going for with the build. I could see moving the engine forward and trying to get a doubler in there too.

I've even looked at going EV in a Jeep (too bad I wanted a range of more than 20 miles), so the ideas are endless and some are better than others.

I like the idea. Sure, there are easier less costly swaps but yours would be really unique.
When I had a Taurus SHO there was a guy on the forum who put an SHO engine in a Cobra kit car with a t-5 transmission. He said he wanted to do something different. The engine looked awesome in that car

Wait wah??? I say this with no ill intent; he seemed to line up with your flavor of politics from the little I saw of his posts. I'm super curious why he blocked you now. Is it worth a trip back into the politics forum to find out why? Regardless of our disagreements, from his previous posts and knowing yours, I'm inclined to think he is being a weeney douche about something.
