I bet they've called me 500 times. I originally started out trying to sell them 5 lbs of dog shit for $24.99 . i'd tell them they could put it in their mailbox and that Mr. postman wouldn't put anything in their mailbox no bills no junkmail what could be better ? some time during the call they would hang up !

I get the solar, window and contractors that just “happen to be in my area” daily. If I have time to fuck with then I tell them sure come out and give me a bit. I have 2 open fields on either direction from the street my shop is on. I usually give them the address to the south field and if they are dumb enough to call me about finding nothing I ask them what address they are at. When the say “xxxx S name of street” I say no it’s “xxxx N name of street”. When they drive 5 miles the other way and find another vacant lot and are dumb enough to call me again I tell them to just give an estimate and mail it to me at that address. I’ve done this many times with success.

I get a recorded message 6-10x a day, telling me I qualify for a free medical bracelet. I press #1 to speak with a representative and get someone from the middle east, who usually hangs up on me.
The problem is, I can't call them back to fuck with them. They are somehow bouncing off local phone numbers here.
The first couple of times I tried the call back number on my caller id. I got a local pizza place and a dr's office.

yea i've tried that too. they spoof peoples phone numbers.

Before we stopped using our land line we used to get a lot of calls from indian scam call centres telling us they were from microsoft and that we had a dangerous virus. I kept a really loud whistle near the phone and would whisper a few answers, once I was sure they would be listening hard I would let them have it with the whistle as loudly as I could. I actually had one of them call back once and start shouting about me damaging their hearing, I laughed a lot and hung up.

We then started to get automated calling suggesting I had been in a car accident. Ambulance chasers I guess. Responding "yes, I was in an accident, the one where I killed that little kid" would always cause the machine to hang up for some reason.

yea I used to get the one from microsoft telling me there's a problem with my windows. I would ask them to hang on a minute and I went and opened and closed my windows so they could hear it ! then I told them no they're working fine ! they would say no the windows on your computer. I'd say what computer ? click :ROFLMAO:

Just got the “ We are turning off your electricity in 30 min.” call. Have not had that one in a long time.
I had an employee lose $40K to the IRS scam. She almost lost her job because she was no call no show because she was running between banks to pull out and send the money. This was a highly educated woman with an advanced degree and she fell for it. If these scams did not work they would not be doing them.

I used to get the IRS calls. they finally gave up when I told them to please lock my social security account so they'd stop taking taxes out of my check !

Good thing about caller ID, I just answer “Pizza Hut, can you hold please?”, then just hang up on them. I figure if it works for the local Pizza Hut when I call them, then it should work for the spam calls too.

When I was a kid, we were poor. May parents did what they could, but they often juggled late fees to avoid having 2 in a row on the same bill.
We didn't have an answering machine; my dad said he had two (pointing to me & my brother).

Well, big brother didn't want to be responsible for taking messages, so i was put to the task of answering the phone. That put me on point with the bill collectors.

One time I answer the phone using the approved catchphrase, and the guy on the other end asks to speak with my dad by name. "He's not available, can I tell him who called?" then he asks for my mom by name, "She's not available, can I tell her who called?"
They guy plain as day tells me, "I cannot tell you my name".

"You can't tell me your name?" I asked; he says "no, I cannot tell you my name".

"Well sir, if you cannot tell me your name, perhaps you should pull your head out of your ass far enough to read the name tag on your desk and then call back."

I would have been in a world of trouble if it hadn't made both parents laugh out loud.

As for robo calls, I always just block the number.
