Jezza's Turbo LJ

Dood, start a build thread where we(wildman) can make fun of you!

He's too scared to start a build thread. Thinks too many people would razz him too much.

I vote flat cj style dash since you can ditch all the chrysler garbage with an ls swap 😎

He's doing some LAME digital dash like the GR boys..

I thought you got a downrated motor? Must have been from over 500hp to the 495?

He's hoping all that extra HP will help improve his driving...

I ordered in one of the radiator cores to test on. It's a touch wider and taller than the stock Mopar. Now I get to figure out how best to do end tanks and mounting. I am thinking seriously about rubber mounting it. Either with stud style isolators or rubber grommets.

Building your own tanks??? That’s definitely hard core…

🙂

That's supposed to go in the side of your motor, not on the grill silly! 😆

I'll bet that made one hell of a steamy cloud when it let go.

It was surprisingly not as eventful as I would have guessed. I was going 75 mph or so. Just a little splatter of coolant on the windshield and a slight whiff of burning coolant.

Well this is fun. Waiting on the side of the tollway for my truck and trailer. I guess the expansion plug was the slow leak I have been looking for.

Soon after getting my rig, a failed steel explanation plug a shot a ton of coolant into the side of my engine bay 1 mile from home. The plug rusted from inside out so I had them all replaced. That shop couldn’t get my engine back in so I did it for them. It gets worse but that’s for another thread.

I had these replaced by the machine shop when the engine was built. I have been noticing a little drop of coolant on the engine mount bracket for a few weeks now. I think it was moving out slowly. Sad thing is this is the third time this has happened to me with brass expansion plugs. I had two other engines do similar failures. I don't think the brass is a good material for sealing pressure in cast iron.

Fwiw, the shop said they couldn’t get the brass plugs to work, so they installed steel plugs that seem to be holding up.

Not going to happen again. O-ringed 1/2" thick plug with a 3/4" stainless T-bar behind it.
