I might lean towards Thursday night camping too.
For some damn reason that tire looks 2xxl
It’s a 35x13.5r15, so you’re eyes do not deceive you. It is a bit larger than my 35’s!

I might be the original here in the forum, or at least the one who popularized it a couple years ago. I do it for clearance reasons. I kept rubbing the spare. Didn’t want to tear up my tailgate.
Now I enjoy the lighter weight benefits too. It’s noticeable, particularly removed from the rear.
I've got to do some checking because last year I think it was that Riders camp & Manashtash camp were closed due to worries of falling trees after the fires.
I was thinking more Long Medows or the campground at the bottom of the road going to Ravens Roost off FS19.

We usually camp at Long’s or somewhere else off little Naches river rd. since it’s a lot closer for us wet siders, the only thing I don’t like about it is that it takes too long to get to the better trails. It’s always take kaner to lily pond to get anywhere then run them on the way back or milk lake rd. Gets kinda boring on a 3 day weekend
It's why I was suggesting the 676 (Shoestring trail) since I don't know eithers abilities.

I've heard they sometimes don't open trails, even as far out as Trail Jam due to snow up there, and I know we have a pretty good snowpack this year.
I still can't get very far up near Elbe...

1) An easy solution is to strap it down like @starkey480 did. I’m going to go shopping for 4 D-rings. I already have some straps and nutserts. Only drawback is it takes up quite a bit of space. I’ll have to pile my gear on top.
2) If I had time I could build a 10” high area for the tire to mount on top of. Then I could store tools and gear underneath.
3) Another option is to stand the tire on end up close to the front seats and secure it that way. Then I’d have room for gear. Drawback there is if I need the spare it will be a pain to get too.
4) Last option is to mount behind driver’s seat inline with the other tires so I can easily roll it out if I need it, kind of like the XJ’s have the spare mounted.
For TJ fest I used a macs tire strap for my spare. Laid the spare behind the console and strapped it down to both seat frames and the rear seat belt floor connection. Worked perfect on my LJ.

Yes for Trail Jam they are limited to the snow line because it's a sanctioned event with the FS. I know some people who were up in that area over Memorial Day weekend so I'll reach out to them and see what the snow was like.

You can kind of see my spare here, it’s under a harbor freight moving blanket so my wheel didn’t get scratched. Still had room for the refrigerator behind it.
It boils down to being able to haul the jeep, and a camper.
I have a TT, car trailer, jeep.
Might sell TT, or the Lil semi truck car hauler I built for the jeep, and finance a camper. Still have not made up my mind. Before covid, and my business went to shit, had a plan for an RV.
Not so much right now.
Koa has cheap cabins with no frills but access to showers and bathrooms.
In the old days it was all about tent camping. Then we bought a 28' travel trailer, and felt like royalty. 12 years after that I'm kinda interested in tents again.
Wife and I keep talking about some epic adventures w jeep and tent.
Might just need to recall my past...
