Clayton (Green acres and RMR) is actually about 2 hours east of Davis (Crossbar). I haven't been to any of them but based on my experience level I'd be more apt to join a Crossbar trip.

I should have checked, I was thinking it was only another hour for some reason, at 2 hours difference I'd favor crossbar as well they've got a pretty good range of stuff I think. It was Ultra 4 nationals last time i was there so I didn't really get a good look around. liked what I saw tho.

Its been a couple years since I visited CB. IIRC, rock face, a creek bed and screen door were the only obstacles? The rest of the park was steep off camber loose gravel/rock climbs. My visits there, things seemed narrow and not well marked. It was easy to end up on a side by side trail. We affectionately referred to it as scratch city.

I am a tentative yes for GA or RMR.

I owe RMR a other visit, last and only trip there, sliced a tire, twisted a stock drive shaft and had a torque converter failure that took the trans with it Lol.

Well that's not encouraging. I do get the impression they've added trails and I've seen some reasonably fun stuff on YT.

Is that the norm for RMR ? 😂

I wheel my junk but thats out of my paygrade lol

Could be better now, prob actually been 3-4 yrs since in was there. My last visit, (prob been 3 or 4 times) they were adding trails and seemed to be opening things up.

RMR and Green Acres are arguably the most difficult trails in oklas.

Is that the norm you ask,,,,maybe, or maybe it was just my turn Lol.

We wheeled Camp Gruber yesterday. There's a rocky trail I wasn't aware of until recently, prob 1/4-1/3mi long and took me two hours.

Pics never do this stuff justice

This gentleman bent drag link, removed tail lamp, antenna and crushed a fender flare. His day was cut short

Couple of other folks may recognize that jeep from a Smorr trip last year @AMS417

I've been wanting to work a trip in to Gruber. I've got a buddy up there with a 86 Yota that I'm trying to get bitten by the offroading bug. It's an IFS though so I probably would let him park it and ride along/spot on the tougher stuff.

They've really open up Gruber recently. Not a big park but plenty to do for an all day trip.

Post up when the time comes, I'll meet ya there!!

Between work, family, and the extended drive times to any decent wheeling im halfway done with my tour here and only hit crossbar so far.

Actually done more wheeling in Arkansas and Alabama when visiting my wife's family over the holidays the past 2 years than I have in Oklahoma.

I hear that. I moved here in June 21 with an unfinished build, just barely got it trailworthy in time to start building a house, then my wife went back to school and I've had to travel more for work this year than any time in my career.

@freedom_in_4low we can be the sane ones in the group, lets do Green Acres and that makes 4 of us.

I usually make good decisions...

it's a little farther but I might be able to swing that if the timing is right and someone can assure me there are at least some moderate trails or bypasses so I won't be completely over my head. I'm used to Colorado, the wheeling is pretty easy there and I only got 35s because they pushed my driveline vibes up above 70mph for a lot less $$$ than another regear :ROFLMAO:

RE: timing my main thing is that we close on the house and start moving in on 1/27 so about two weeks before and after, at minimum, are gonna be blocked out with moving related tasks and honey-dos like putting up a fence so my wife doesn't have go outside with the dog on a leash a half dozen times a day.

even 2 weeks before or after a move would be a no go with mine. Then again were at the tail end of hunting season so shes probably tired of my shit already lol.

@gasiorv I’m in for an OK run once I get my Jeep back in one piece. Back at it this weekend after a break for the holidays. We have the lift working so should start to shape up now.

Let's try to nail something down. What does April 21, 22, 23 look like for everyone? That gives Andrew time to get his rig together and test it and it is probably the latest that I would want to take a trip of this magnitude before I head to Moab in June (need time to fix if something breaks). GA is no joke and I never been to RMR but I have been warned by some pretty hardcore wheelers. In addition to these places just being very rocky, April is going to be wet so we will be searching for traction.

Clayton is approx 6 hrs for me so I will probably drive over Thursday night after work. We can then wheel GA on Friday and RMR on Saturday (or vice versa).

I don't think GA has any open/close times, you just pull up and pay at the drop box. RMR just changed owners, I sent them an email to see if there is any closures, etc.....

Another option would be SMORR or Hot Springs which would be a little further drive for the OK folks but more variance in trails. I know Hot Springs very well and a Jeep on 35s with lockers can do a lot there, 33s with lockers and a tummy tuck can also be do most trails with a few bypasses. SMORR is the same, 35s and lockers and you can wheel a lot.
