Recommendations on Hydro-boost Braking Systems for TJs?

Hey TJers,

I've been playing with my Kubota powered diesel TJ now that I can drive it around my property, I really need to get the TCU hooked up so I can drive it more, but something has become very apparent, my current brakes aren't going to cut it. I have an electric vacuum pump that is pulling 22" on my vacuum gauge, but the combination of the instant low end torque of the Kubota V2403 and the custom low stall convertor, which I have no idea what it is I bought it off of eBay, means I'm struggling to get the brakes to hold.

I'm seriously debating going to a Hydro-boost braking system so that I can have more clamping pressure from my brakes on my TJ. Does anyone have any recommendation for this? I keep trying to find a kit and I know VancoPB makes one but I would have to change the master cylinder/power steering pump and I've seen others that aren't as powerful that I think would work as well.

Any input would be fantastic!

Can't help on other units but I have the Vanco kit on my TJ and even with the V-8, 5.13 gears & 38" tires it works great. Some things are worth spending money on and brakes are one of them.
I've heard of people using Chevy setups from the 80's Blazer w/6.2 diesel before but can't offer any help in that area.

I've been talking to him via PM, he actually wants me to try getting the vacuum I'm supplying to my brake booster closer to 24" of vacuum instead of the 20" I'm sitting at right now.

The challenge there is I think I would have to get another pump, but also I'm not positive the pump I have now is working correctly!

Unless there are leaks in the system; most AC vacuum pumps can reach approximately 30".

Look into either semi-trucks for a vacuum pump or the 80's cars that had the Chevy V-8 diesel engines in them. Those would be my first choice for a pump that come to mind.
