Structurally Sound Rock Sliders

Your logic is flawed. Simply because the pieces are notched to fit each other doesn't mean they must be used together to work properly.

I have trousers with belt loops and suspender buttons.

Does that mean I have to wear a belt and suspenders to keep my trousers up?

Again, even PS says they are all designed to work together... I researched them to possibly use...

I can give two sh@ts about their parts, and will be using others, for other reasons... I just get tired of seeing all the "if it ain't stock, OEM, verified good by me" attitudes on here.

Now I'll get off your lawn...

Given what I've seen, even if one is looking at rock sliders to provide a step, PS is still the inferior design.

So, I will ask again. What does PS offer in their slider that cannot be found elsewhere that makes their inferior mounting design permissable?

I don't know, and I would never ever buy a Poison Spyder product. Don't like brands like.

I have stock Mopar rails, but if I were to spend money on a new set, and for my intended use, I would go for Kurt's slider, at KD Fabworks.

Dumb. All companies that make rails and corner armor based around the height of the corner armor on the height of the rock rail so there isn't a gap between the top of the armor and the top of the tube edge. Or between the top of the rail and bottom edge of the armor. Therefore, they are designed to work together. That doesn't mean a big fucking notch that leaves a little easily bent tail is a good idea.

If you want to design them to work together, then build and supply an overlap plate that ties the cut together so they at least act like they are wheel well to wheel well.

Whatchu got against Polaris?

Polaris? Nothing really. Its a soulless corporation just like any other soulless corporation.

What I have never liked is Transamerican's practice of buying up entrepreneurial businesses with decent products, then cheapening the product and eliminating any semblance of accountability and customer service.

Now that Polaris has bought up Transamerican I have even less regard for the company. It seems to be nothing more than unenthusiastic middle managers ruled by the bean counters.

The history, for those who don't already know:

Trans American...

Fixed it for you.

An axle can't receive power from the engine without a drive shaft to go between the two. Try again.

Re-read the question/cynicism.

I agree. They aren't as well designed as they should be, and there are chinks. But to call everyone "dumb" or "stupid" that disagrees with you about anything.. which I see a lot of here... is just asinine, and petty. I don't do well with the 'Because I told you so' argument that I see a lot here... back up your claim, if someone has real world experience, then accept that.

...

What other PS component is needed to make their slider work better than it does? How well the sliders fit against their corners is largely irrelevant where structural integrity is concerned.

Because if you put the weight of the jeep on them, the weight will not be evenly distributed and will rip your body mounts off. Let the body mounts do what they do, support the body, not support the weight of the Jeep.

The intent was that the frame mounted sliders torque on the frame, bending and distorting it. Ones that tie the frame to the body, ties the two bodies that want/need to move independently creating many other issues. The body mounted sliders work best at protecting the body, when properly installed/engineered to do so.

At least that is what I gain from this thread.

On a side note, the stock Rubi sliders on all the years seem to be the best option to go with, for My JT I have the Rubi sliders, and have seen them take som good abuse on the trail, as well as support the weight of the truck. Watch Kingdom Krawl (on Amazon) and Diezel has stock sliders on his heavily modified JK.

Having run stock Rubi sliders and now Savvy sliders, I strongly disagree with this statement.

I agree, I've never considered what comes on a Rubicon to be anything much more than decoration to give it a tougher look. No one I know would consider it strong enough for anything more than a very mild impact.

I've been pushing the limits of the Rubi sliders. The body has a slight ripple on the passenger side because they really aren't suitable for landing on. They are on the shorter list for replacement.

About the only thing I need/want for the JT is to add some rocker armor to stiffen that up, but the stockers get good results.

For the TJ, I'm looking at the UCF rockers, only wish they were available in AL.

If you notice, I have not said what to buy. If you wish to disagree with me based on aesthetics, I rarely comment because those are personal aspects that you are welcome to have however you like.

If you want to disagree over the structural aspect of something where I have clear evidence, explanations, and design ability to prove, then you are dumb and stupid. Whether you agree with that or not doesn't change it and I'm not doing the "I told you so" thing, I put up the pics, I put up the explanations of how and why it works or doesn't work. That is fact, not I told you so.

I've backed up my claims plenty.

For anyone following along, that tells all of us your inherent understanding of how things work and the value thereof.

Hmm, I think it was one of the trifecta of criticism on this forum that I saw a post applauding the Rubicon rails... to my dismay I don't really care enough to look it up to have you swallow that. (I think it was Jerry... not sure)

Hmm, value... lets spend $xxx replacing the part that Jeep engineers put there for protection... With the knowledge that you claim to have, you should do good to reboot your mannerisms and learn to productively explain your views, instead of "GET OFF MY LAWN!!!"
