Florida The move to Florida is on!

You should own a pool. It's a hole with water in it and a negative resale value. You can watch money evaporate by the minute. :)
Yep I've had two and was lucky to have bought a house without one this last time. But the only way the wife allowed that was because our neighborhood HOA has 3 public pools/water park areas for the residents. I am so THANKFUL new home doesn't have a pool!!! :D

100% agree, 1st house had a pool we rarely ever used so I stopped opening it until she begged me then she never put her big toe in, it was filled in shortly after.

I bought a small two bedroom house, with a pool, while I was in college, going to school on the GI Bill. Money was tight.
Soon after buying the house the pool pump went out and I had no money to replace it. Eventuall, the pool turned green, got tadpoles which grew into frogs, which would gather along the edge of the pool. I would sit by the pool, watch my frogs and drink beer. I never owned another pool and I'm not real fond of frogs.

Ah! Another tube jockey! I lost count of how many burns, shocks, and zaps I got off of tube equipment. Had the plate cap of a TV horizontal output tube arc into my thumb one time. Left a black crater and boy did it burn! "RF Burns", even though technically, it wasn't RF.

When I was in the canoe club [ET(R), USN] working on a radar set, the ship went one way, I went the other and took a 14 kV hit between my right wrist and right elbow. I remember waking up 25' across the compartment on my back with the Chief just about to deliver the heart-start blow to my sternum. Arm was numb for weeks and I had a hole on my wrist and elbow. I was lucky it was high frequency (10cm) and mostly skin effect, and I only contacted it for a second or so. Didn't even blow the radar fuse.

OW! What was the ampacity of the circuit? I've been zapped by TV High Voltage in the neighborhood of 30KV more times than I care to remember - BUT - the ampacity is so very low (along with its borderline HF) that its not dangerous, just unpleasant. Sounds like your arm conducted a fair amount of current!

I had two seasons where I couldn't afford to replace the liner in my pool. To combat the mosquitos and frogs, I threw a brim and a large mouth bass in there. When I fished them out, the bass had stayed about the same size, but the brim was huge. That was two easy pool seasons.

Well, it was the plate connection of the final stage of a 30 MW radar set, so a few amps, anyway. I did not present a direct path to ground through my truck, only between my wrist and elbow; and at that, there was sufficient power to throw me 30' and knock me out for 5 minutes. I don't know if my heart stopped, but the Chief ET was willing to break my sternum to make sure it was pumping.
This was the early 1970's, like '71, and we had all just been through CPR training. The Navy was just starting to be aware that not all enlisted personnel were morons studying to be idiots. Most of the ETs on my ship had at least 2 years of college and several of them had EE degrees. The officers were mostly history and poly-sci majors.
Anyway, the Chief was going to use his CPR training to restart my heart. By the time the Hospitalman got there I was sitting up and staring at my arm. I spent a week in sick bay taking it easy, but it was a good month or two before my arm worked right again.

Shit. You're lucky to be talking about it now!

We have an inground pool , my wife and I seldom use but my eight year old grandson and his buddies love it. If it wasn't for him I'd shut it down. Anyone priced chlorine tablets lately. LJB/FJB!

I run granular, usually just shy of 150 lbs per season (we get 12-16 weeks). Last year, a 100 lb bucket was $220. This year, the same bucket was $380. I postponed opening my pool by 4 weeks, and I'll probably be shutting down early to mitigate cost.

Go salt, soo much easier and cheaper. I barely used our pool the first 10 years in the house (kids did) now I am in it 6 days a week (the 3-4 months it is open) and in the hot tub the rest of the year. Now do I like my $700 - $1000/mo electric bill...hell no! I had a solar rep in last week and she said I am a 1%er...yeah she she sees my level of electric bills about once every 2 months...not exactly the 1% I want to be in.

Anyway after a $51,000 solar install quote they can save me 36% of my electric bill...lol a 11 year year pay back....NOT! I will not be in this house another 11 years, god help me if I am.

New to FL, Hope it's all you want and need.
Just remember....
