The engine has a similar filter (bigger) but the way he has it mounted looks correct for air flow.Filter is backwards. Not sure how much that matters for flow. Obviously mounting is easier that way.
that's a good point. honestly hadn't put that much thought into it. I figure It will get filtered either direction. The engine has a similar filter (bigger) but the way he has it mounted looks correct for air flow.
On the engine the open pleated side is down and the air flows up thru it to the intake. Using gravity to help shake / drop debris out.
What happens when it rains and water runs down the windshield ?Mine has never shown signs of getting wet. Water would have to blow in at a pretty crazy angle to touch it. That same angle would result in water getting in to your hvac system.
maybe not the best mod for seattle. haven't had a good rain here in over a year... hence the need for a cabin filter. What happens when it rains and water runs down the windshield ?
My reply was to the previous post that said it was mounted the wrong way. The air flows downward thru the HVAC ducts. You pictured it correctly mounted for airflow.that's a good point. honestly hadn't put that much thought into it. I figure It will get filtered either direction.
Ten dollar filter and some duct tape to keep the wife's sensitivities in check on our next trip seems well worth it lol.
I posted it so others who have asked for a part number could have somewhere to start.
a poor attempt on my part to address two posts while only quoting one. I understood your post (which is correct). My reply was to the previous post that said it was mounted the wrong way. The air flows downward thru the HVAC ducts. You pictured it correctly mounted for airflow.
well hold on now, there may be different designs to divert water underneath the cowell as i found out today. This looks nothing like my last Jeep. much better design but without chucking it this filter wont work here. And thanks for posting the part number and saving us some leg work!
I remember a similar post and I think its a SA11426 STPWhat size filter did you use so we don't have to reinvent the wheel?
Good modI got tired of all the dust blowing in when I turned on the fan in my TJ. I removed the cowl and then the air box. I measured the opening and found a air filter at Tractor Supply that needed a small modification. Here is the result.
