Oh wow! Man that makes me feel really lucky I made it through that loop with no lift and no issues
Sorry I was leading that day. That combination is an all dayer and if anything breaks then a little more. I am doing it this year for toyota club and already have 14 signed up. That will be a long day.

Lets not do that on group dinner day this year. I will plan on being at Zaks for dinner to meet the rest who were not on the long trail ride with me...

I plan to be there this year again. Probably most of April.
I am already booked 4/29 and 4/30 as I am leading trails for the Cruise Moab - Toyota group
(hoping to have the LX450 build finished by then)

I will have my LJ too. If the LX450 is not done or has issues, then the Toyota group would get led by an LJ :)

So I can run some trails prior with you all.
I will probably be driving the LX450 most of the time since these will be its first runs and I want to test it out.

To me the point is being a TJ/LJ person, not critical what you are driving on the trail. If you have to fly in you are probably renting a jeep and that's fine with me too. So I am fine with running what you got.
Hope we get to wheel together again, that was a fun day on Poison Spider/Golden *! Even if we don't, I would love to check out your LX - I drool over those fairly regularly :)

I forget, did we all already discuss permits/trail passes? If so, should I be mail ordering them now, or is it something you just buy from a gas station?

I did not realize that was something we needed... is that new from last year? Or only specific trails?

You can buy the pass for Sandflats recreation area as you enter, that's for Hell's and Fins.

Other than that as far as I know you only need them for Elephant hill and White Rim but you can't get them until 24 hrs before anyway.

Ah okay. Whether it was right or wrong, I only paid the 10 or 15$ entry fee to sand flats for Fins last year
Yeah, I usually buy the week pass in case I want to go again. Worked well last year. But you can buy day passes too.

Sandflats is a daily or yearly pass buy at the gate. Most trails are BLM so as long as informal meet up - no pass needed. Of course need pass for national parks (arches/canyonlands).

Official groups like easter jeep safari and cruise moab buy permits from BLM based on group usage on trails. Not sure where the line is between this and needing permits. It sounds like this is more some friends meeting rather than a paid to attend event and maybe that is the diff.

I agree that part of the fun is figuring out how to deal with issues on the trail. We ran that long trail twice once each directions on different days last year and everyone made it back off the trail. Hopefully see the folks I met last year again this year and the ones I did not too.

I will wheel with anyone. And it seems to me the group is for anyone who is a TJ/LJ lover at heart. However you need the skill and vehicle to reasonably make the trail. I am not sure the car above (much as it wants to) would be enjoy or be enjoyable to wheel with on most of the trails we run.

Though, I did take my daughters stock Jeep renegade over about half of fins and things...

Sorry I missed this year. But here's a taste.

I'm the only TJ and the only stick. The throttle control lever is one of the best things for a stick.

We have three 4 door wranglers, a new Bronco, 2 Toyota trucks, an LS swapped Comanche on 37s, a Rubicon Gladiator, and a chevy K30 crew cab that's blasting through everything. He's making a custom overlanding rig out of it.

Overlook on Dome Plateau.

Well I have reservations at the KOA from April 23-30 but it’s looking like the wife and I will not be able to make it after all. If you are interested in taking these reservations send me a PM and I can see what I can do to transfer the reservation to you.

Sucks you won't be able to make it.

What kind of site do you have? I already have mine but it may be helpful for others to know if you had a cabin vs a tent site.

I expect to have my LJ there April 23-27
Hopefully see you all at Zax Tuesday dinner

Anyone starting to think of trails they may want to run or going to be in the earlier part of the week like me and want to start thinking of some trails?

I don't have any concrete plans yet but I want to hit top of the world this year, and I want to do fins and hells again. Might be nice to have some idea of when things are happening or at least have a group to wheel with
