What did I do? Drilled three 1.5" holes right in front of my cat. Why?

Real answer- Jeep fell on its face driving to SLC airport, wouldn't go over 35 mph downhill, uphill forget about it, lucky to maintain 6 mph. Took 2 hours to limp it home like 35 miles averaging around 18 mph. Suspected something dislodged and clogged the cat, new header-back exhaust ordered, did this to see if it fixed the issue. Other than sounding like loud shit it worked.

Went on a test drive after finally wrapped up a long 2 weeks of swapping the trans for a new AX15 and adapter setup, which required a new clutch setup. Had to replace the timing cover since it was leaking BAD, and also did a mild 2in lift while things were down. First test drive went as expected, just need to get the pinions aligned and hopefully a short throw shifter comes in soon. I also got mostly done with making the new AC lines for the retrofit. Just need to get them crimped, wire it up and charge the system
1. Started the next phase of the cooling system flush. I drained the Prestone treatment, going to do a few flushes with distilled water, and then fill it back up with Thermocure and distilled water to let the Thermocure sit in there for about a week.
2. Started replacing the roll bar speakers. I heard that 6.5" speakers drop in there fine, but I'm having a really hard time getting the screws to actually bite into the metal to do the self tapping thing. I even took drill bits to one of the holes and I just can't get it going through the metal at all. It is a 2000.

Just ordered my Savvy lift, very excited! Still need more parts before the install but that's okay, my son is born next Tuesday so I won't have time to work on it for a couple weeks anyway
Anybody else repair a broken manifold? $20 worth of brazing rod, $35 manifold gasket

She's quiet again and running much better now that the O2 sensors aren't picking up on the exhaust leak.
Also bolted in a new pair of Motor mounts.

I got the new 6.5" Kicker speakers installed in the roll bar speakers pods. I also stuffed poly fill into the speaker pod cavities. They do sound better, but I can't wait until the new high powered stereo comes it. I'm sure they will sound better at 45W compared to the 18W now.
If I have to remove it, I'm replacing it.
I'm in the same boat. That said, there's some (non car related) things that I will repair just for the challenge of it, because it is enjoyable to me to "save" something. I congratulate the effort on this repair, even if I would never do it.
For example, I'm an amateur leatherworker. I've repaired shoes, belts, knife sheaths, and holsters because I liked the challenge, even when the labor costs (if i would have charged myself) were more than replacing the product. Sometimes the process is it's own reward.
I'd have to agree with you for this particular part.

I wish there was a “dumb questions” thread for asks like these, but as I was replacing the rear coils I identified some of my squeaking to be the rear sway bar link bushings. Any way I can lube these, or just replace the rubber?

I’ve got one I’ve been wanting to install on my front Dana 30. It didn’t come with instructions but I think it should be pretty straightforward ( or at least in my mind lol)
Slapped in a Powertrax No-Slip "drop in" locker.....
It was anything but "drop in" but with cold beer and some pizza we made it happen. Instruction book was for a Dana 30 rear so that made it interesting trying to guess what we were missing.
I haven't really had the chance to really test it out yet in some loose gravel/sand or how it behaves in a tight and twisty trail.
Definitely wasn't excited about pulling the carrier to get this thing installed but that's the way she goes sometimes.
It seems to be OK on the street, near silent when turning to the left but clunks a bit turning right. Not really happy with the final fitment of the new part despite having installed it just like the install manual explained. Both outer pieces shown in the image below seemed to have a bit more play than expected despite being installed correctly so that may be why.
Never got a picture of the locker once it was in unfortunately, summer heat and greasy hands was the cause
