What tires are you running?

Wow !! you know that there is a Dunkin Donuts on the shore if you get hungry again? lol

how did that happen ?
These came wit h the jeep when bought. Had a slight vibration coming on. Thought it might be mud or thrown a weight. But then on one trip up the mway it just decided to shred itself.
Stayed inflated thanks to the steel belting.
Now I'm tyre shopping.
Fun times.

Very lucky by the sounds of it...

wow, Do tires in new Zealand have the same requirement here in the US that they have a date code stamped into the tire? I know that Americas Tire/Discount Tire won't remount a spare tire on a wheel if its 10 years old or older. Too much liability.
Good question...I'm not sure either to be honest...we have to have a safety check every 6 months (or 1 year on newer cars) They check the tread depth and general condition not sure if they check the year stamp on tires though....

I'm actually not sure. You'd think a decent tyre guy would refuse to mount these monsters what the rule.
Either way, I knew these were crap when I bought the jeep. Will replace with some 31s ATs and I've a set of 33 muds to fall back on when I get a lift.

Running 33” Cooper STT Pro’s right now. Only have a few thousand on them but I’ve been impressed so far this winter. Running 20 psi around town this winter with good results. Took them down to 10 psi in some deep snow and they hooked up great.

Had an old set of tires with exactly the same tread pattern (Daytona I think) and I noticed a vibration figured it was the same thing untill I noticed the outer diameter was round but the tread was different depths all over. Apparently there were bubbles forming under the outer layer of rubber and creating bulges in the tread. Got rid of those things pronto.

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.

I just ordered these, love the look of the coopers and all around heard positive things so I'm excited for them and feel I got a good-ish deal at around $200 a tire

Curious what brands people are running. What do you like about them? Whats less than great?

Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, 37x12.50r17. Seem to be ok on the rocks. Bought just for that purpose. A little noisey on the street and they will slide also if you corner hard. Not recommended for the street. Bias ply. It took a bit of time to get the side wall to start to flex when aired down. Good side wall bite. I'm happy with them.

Thanks. Aiming for the classic look, maybe with a baja type twist as I spend so much time up the beaches.
Rims are from magwarehouse and cost my little finger. Tyres were a deal with beaurepairs, 3 and 1 free.
yeah Magwarehouse can run some good deals...and saw that special at Beaurepairs....good score.

This threads great as I'm on the market for some ATs. And yes, ko2 and duratecs are far too pricey here.
Interested to know what other tyre options people are running..?
I bought a set of Toyo Open Country A/T II's for my rig (31" X 10.50 15's) based on how happy we are with these tires running on my wife's XJ. They're not as aggressive as what most others are running, but the reality of our rigs is that they will see far more street time than trail time, and the trails will be tame by some folk's standards. If I really want something more aggressive, I'll buy something for another set of rims to be used pretty exclusively for that purpose.

I like it when you build for you OWN needs and not for how other people think you should build it..
