When I said they ‘worked really well’ I meant they were close to 50/50 travel bias. I can’t remember the exact up/down.
You’ve got good numbers in your original post. Just choose the best options.

Old post but I thought I'd follow up. I've got a 1999 that I put 3" JKS springs on to replace 2.5" Rough Country springs. I've currently got Rancho RS55239 and RS55241s that I used with the 2.5 springs.
When I hit bumps it seems like the shocks aren't cushioning the blow as well as they should, kind of sharp kits. Does that extra .5" make those shocks the wrong choice for the springs?
The other side of the coin is I've got about 28k miles on them and they are four years old. I doubt that age matters but I share it because who knows...
Anyway since you put on the same springs with new shocks what was your experience with the combo?

And to be honest I'm probably looking for an excuse to get new shocks, so looking for recommendations for 3" lifted TJ shock ideas.
I hated the Ranchos in the rear. They were very rough and didn't seem to like the weight of my Jeep. If i had the whole family in for a ride or I was hauling bags of mulch it was much more compliant and smooth. They didn't last a year. I swapped the rears for a set of Black MAX B8528 and they have been much more comfortable. Plus you can run them shaft down which helps to clear the spring perch.
I still have Ranchos (239) up front, they have been fine and I haven't had any ill effects from running a mismatched combo. I've considered swapping the fronts, but I really have no reason to.
The Black Max shocks are so (relatively) cheap, you might as well give them a shot.

They were out of the JKS shocks which price wise were the cheapest. From talking to the guy at JKS on the phone it seemed like the Fox 2.0 Adventure were a lot better shocks for the money (yes, twice as much, but he said well worth it). Of course since I was looking at Fox Adventure the Fox Pros were tempting but in the end I decided that since my Jeep was more "mall" than "crawl" by far the Fox Adventure would be just fine.
I installed them last weekend and overall they were an improvement over the Rancho 5000s (RS55239 and RS55241). It's, still a TJ, but I could tell a big difference. I think since Ranchos were for a 2.5 lift and when I changed to 3" JKS springs it was causing problems with the stoke of the shock. They were out of the matching Fox steering stabilizer so I bought a JKS one, but I have not put it on yet, the Rancho one wasn't leaking yet.
I purchased the JKS shocks. Ran them for a year and 2 of them made bad squeaking sounds once they warmed up on any trail. Couldn't for the life of me remember who I purchased them from and JKS would not do warranty. I tossed them on another TJ I was selling and never looked back. I like JKS but I cannot recommend the shocks for lots of trail riding. At least in my experience.
