After playing around with my code reader, it turns out I do have some codes. I may have actually had them the other day and didn’t know it.

PCM I guess?

Two questions.
1) The TCM is in the PCM on ‘05-‘06’s, correct?
2) Why Wranglerfix over FS1? FS1 has a lifetime warranty.

I forgot to add, fluid level is good. Checked when running and warmed up per the owners manuals direction. Fluid is still red-ish/pink/clear and doesn’t smell burnt.

I don’t think it actually overheated. I have a trans cooler and a gauge. Temps are good even while sitting and idling with a/c on for 20 minutes or so in 90°+ temps outside.

Yep, those are the classic codes that indicate your PCM is toast. FS1 seems to be more established and more reports of sustained reliability of their product. I’ve seen numerous positive reports about Wrangler Fix’s product, but none with more than 1,000 miles. I would be most concerned about which supplier will be around to honor their warranty. FS1 would get my vote in that category.

Yeah, a warranty isn’t worth much if the place isn’t around in a year or two.

If I’m looking at the correct PCM, mine would be $563 at FS1 with a lifetime warranty. They had some that were $800-something but they weren’t my part number.

FS1’s site does say they have been in the business over a decade.

Call them to make sure you are ordering the correct one.

It is interesting to see most members with the new fix have under 50 posts each...Could it be just a coincidence?

I used to frequent some of the other forums until I found this one. Too much going on at the others. About the only time I go to the others now is to check out the for sale forums. LOL

I know I've just joined, am potentially purchasing an 05 wrangler with an auto trans, and am wary about this PCM issue surfacing in the Jeep...
Check for error codes before you buy. You’ll need a scanner that reads transmission codes. If you see P0218 or P0714, the PCM needs to be replaced.

After closely following the reports on Flagship and Wrangler Fix, I’ve decided to go with the Flagship product. There seems to be much more substance behind them and proven sustained performance of their product. I’m just not sold on Wrangler Fix’s claims of a re-engineered PCM. My Flagship PCM will sit on the shelf as a backup.

EDIT: I was a bit surprised that Flagship would not give me any credit for sending in a core. I would have thought they need to keep their supply coming in so they have units to sell.

Just ordered one for my 2006 LJ that's my DD (with just over 100k miles) that just had it's PCM die (ironically without any shift issues so far!). Once I get it installed and in I'll report back, and try to provide mileage updates. I commute about 50mi roundtrip each day so I'll rack up miles on her quickly (in the lovely Florida heat to boot!).

I’ve been leaning towards Flagship One, but I’ve been seeing some posts where people were having problems as soon as it’s installed. Some were the exact same problems. I also seen flagships lifetime warranty says that after a claim is initiated, the warranty is expired (or something to that affect). Basically food for one replacement in the original units lifetime.

Still undecided. : |

Which PCM did you get?

The WranglerFix one - I had debated the FS1 PCM as well (the warranty and longevity of company were tempting) but I was swayed by the thought's of a having something new versus the reused PCMs that seem to re-fail eventually (though some have had good luck with them). I'm hoping this is the fix we've needed all along as my previous TJ had the shifting issue badly and I'm hoping to keep the LJ from ever getting it!

I don’t think the Wrangler Fix product is a “new” PCM, but I do hope it works out for you.
