33 inch tire recommendations for my 2005 LJ

WOW! I thought you were a Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac guy. Especially in the 33" tire size. What changed your mind?
I'll be the outlier. I've run both Duratracs and KO2s. I wasn't happy with either, offroad, and switched to MT ATZ P3s. These are more of a hybrid AT, with a tough sidewall, and do amazingly well both on and offroad.

Just for reference here is my 06 Rubicon with 285/75R16 Goodyear DuraTracs. You have the exact same wheels so I though you might appreciate a visual. I just put them on but so far I like them.

Here is a better pic of the tread pattern and how the tire sets on the wheel. It always helps me to actually see something rather than speculate. I really like the look and have heard great things about the Duratrac. I’ve also heard good things about the KO2s. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
They both perform the same, the KO2 is just much quieter on the road.
My experience w/ GY Wranglers anyway was that they were very loud, held on to a lot of stones, and had a good number of chunks out of them. I have KO2's on my Tacoma and have been very happy w/ them.
Our two TJ's both have Falkens. The main reason I went w/ them was there were like one or two brands that carry a 60k mile tread life warranty (in an AT tire). We have 6 miles of switchbacks from town to our house and that chews up tires. I tend to get about 20k miles out of a set. Disco Tire has always been good about upholding the warranty for me.

Yes I had the Coopers AT3 because of the warranties and have had good luck with them . It’s seems for me it always comes down to do I switch to the BF Goodrich KO2 or stay with Cooper AT3 ? I don’t know much about the Falkens
The Quadratec “Moab” is a 16x8 with a 5” backspace, no improvement over the Mopar Moab
I am running Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3's on my LJ, in "metric 35's" - LT 315/75R16.
The MT Baja ATZ P3 is a great all purpose tire that works well in many conditions. Other tires built on the same 3-ply sidewall tire carcass are the Cooper ST Pro, Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx, and the Mickey Thompson MTZ P3. I recommend all of them, which one depending upon typical terrain.
I have also run the Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx, but not on a jeep. It has a very aggressive AT tread that worked very well for me at Moab and on similar terrain. The ST/Maxx is an alternative to the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3.
Another good choice, although with a slightly less aggressive tread, is the Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT. I replaced my ST/Maxx tires with these because I wanted to try something different then immediately departed on a month long overlanding trip. They worked very well on and off road.
All of that being said, the typical jeeper cannot go wrong with a set of BFG KO2's. Although there are many more tire choices than there once were and the BFG AT in one form or another has been around for decades, it is still at or close to the gold standard of AT tires.
Thanks for your response , I too have run Cooper AT3 for my last two sets of tires and have been pretty happy . I just thought I might see what else people recommended. How was the St/maxx do on the street ?
Ive had the duratracs and to me, they are the best tire I've owned. They were quiet, they formed well in the rocks, they gripped really well in the rocks, snow and ice performance didnt slow them down, and I got reasonable mileage out of them. The BFGs--I had them on a half ton pick up years ago (take this for what it is because I am sure they've changed quite a bit since then) and while they were quiet and got great mileage, they were bad on ice and snow. They lost grip easily.
Cooper ST/Maxx do well on the street. I got almost 45,000 miles from mine over nearly every type of pavement and off pavement terrain. In many ways I prefer them to the AT3, primarily due to the stronger sidewalls and more aggressive tread, but I don't mind a SUV that rides more like a truck. The AT3's are definitely smoother and quieter on the streets and highways, but that doesn't make the ST/Maxx a hard riding tire. I've driven my 4x4 SUV with them on many extended trips and never felt any road weariness or aches and pains that could be attributed to the stiffer tires.
Yea I have heard that , for me ice and snow is not such a big deal because of where I live but definitely good to know ! Thanks
I disagree with the ice/snow comments. They break trail in my group when we hit the snow. My next door neighbor got 75k miles out his last set in his 4Runner.
