A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

So how much suspension lift are people getting from this? Trying to estimate ride height, the only stock front sprung weight I could find is ~1575 lbs, with two 170lb/in springs with 17.87" free length that comes to 13.2 inches nominal height, only 1.2 over stock.
Sure, it depends on the weight of your rig. But using the 170 lb/in spring rate given for the Pro Comps, a stock TJ would only be lifted 1.2" in the front.

What are close to stock/lightweight rigs getting up front, for example? This can be compared to the computed value to see how close the spring rate is to real averaged rate over the compression used.

I run the ProComp Springs and have a .75" spacers in front for leveling. I have aftermarket bumpers that would be considered heavy (not Chinese thin crap), a winch and a hardtop. With all that said, I sit level and the lift measures out at 2.25".

Hope that helps.

Definitely helps, thanks for the data point!

I have the Pro Comp springs in my garage...I was originally going to go with 31's but I decided to skip the interim step and go straight to 33's. I've gotta keep up with my buddy in a JT on 37's, on whatever trails he drags me to.

lol that wheelbase and angles of the JT will easily put you on a level playing field with a lift and 31s assuming you have lockers ect.

Yeah but I want the 33's :) Love the way they look, and I'll love the look on my buddy's face the first time I have to help him through something I drove easily. I've got lockers on the way for my re-gear.

I run 33s on mine. I do have a .5" BL and will be changing it out for a 1.25" soon, but it works great now.

Ok so I installed the shocks, springs, and front spacers (and threw a new steering stabilizer on as well) and got about 1 3/4 inches of lift from stock - I have yet to install the .5 inch body lift I have and am wondering if a 1 inch MML will be overkill for the current setup? . I have slight vibration when speeding up and overall the ride is a little rough but I need an alignment and haven’t put the rear track bar yet so wondering if that will fix it. (for context 2000 Automatic )

When in doubt, go 1.25

If 1-3/4 inches is causing vibes you may have a u-joint going bad because it shouldn't cause any angle vibes.

With the 1" MML on mine with stock suspension (for now) my driveshaft was pointed perfectly straight at the axle, I'd recommend the MML and a Savvy 1.25" body lift. I mainly did it for a future tummy tuck, but it's a good upgrade for anybody imo

That's what I figured so I ordered all 7 to be replaced - Amazon has them delayed so it may be awhile

Also I am considering just returning the .5 inch and ordering the 1.25 and just set myself up for the future - will I definitely need the MML then or is it a "just put it on and see" type of thing?

I would always add a 1" MML to go with that size BL.

I would recommend the MML with the 1.25" body lift, otherwise you'll have to modify the fan shroud. A tip for changing the MML: don't try to pull the cross bolt out on the motor mount first, loosen the mount from the frame first. I spent a solid hour trying to beat that cross bolt out. If you're running a tummy tuck you'll want the MML, any help on driveline angle is needed once you do that. I put the currie mounts on that I got from savvy, as well as the cable shifter and new ball joints and I got it all done in 2 days. I didn't just get the spacer block MML, I got the new mounts and I'm glad I did because the factory mounts were pretty bad

You’ll ned a 1” BL amd a 1” bump extension or 2” of bump extensions to run 33’s without trashing the fenders.

Thanks to @CodaMan for laying the ground work for this one as he inspired me to write this thread as a resource for others.

The issue is that I see people constantly posting about purchasing the OME 2.5" lift, Rough County 2.5" lifts, or others "lift kits". In reality, I think you can save a lot of money and get better quality parts if you piece together your own lift. The problem I have with the OME lift is that the newer shocks they switched to years ago ride terrible in comparison to the shocks they used to use. Rough Country is the same way in that the shocks they include in their kits are absolutely terrible.

For the most part, springs are springs, but the shocks are really what's going to affect your ride quality. That being said, below you'll find a perfect recipe for a 2" lift that uses quality parts and won't break the bank. In addition, this setup shouldn't require a transfer case drop in most cases.

With the addition of a Savvy 1.25" body lift and a 1" Savvy motor mount lift, you can easily turn this lift into a 3.25" lift and set yourself up for a tummy tuck.

Hopefully this thread serves as a resource to others. You're much better off piecing your own lift together as oppose to buying a "kit" in most cases.
Are these links the "sponsored" kind? I am going to buy the springs , shocks and spacers but wanted to make sure I can help out the forum at the same time.

@CodaMan did you do anything to address the rear sway bar? I see you've already swapped out the front. I'm looking hard at your setup for my Rubicon to run 33's and want to make sure I've got everything in my planned budget.

I didn't touch the rear sway bar. And BTW, I have 33's now (couldn't pass up the deal) and I'll probably replace the .5" BL with a 1.25" here shortly.
