This Jeep makes an impact

Let the new Jeep build begin!

Sold our Red LJR yesterday within $1,000 of our asking price. Guy flew in from Vegas for it. Had it up for sale for 6 days before we had a confirmed buyer. Not my fastest sale but I’m pretty happy with it.

Decided to start filming this new 1 owner impact orange build with less than 50,000 miles. This will make the 4th LJ that we will have had/worked on. Two Rubicons and two non rubicons.

The video link is below that goes over the Jeep from when/how we bought it to future plans. I don’t have a set schedule for when the videos will be put out as I’ll have to wait for parts or etc. if you see something in a video that you would like more detail on, post a comment on this thread and I’ll upload detailed photos and go into any details anyone is looking for.

Until then, here are some photos and the video link below. Photos are of our trip when we brought it home, and some detailed photos of the red Jeep after we removed everything. You can also see some of the lift high differences between the orange and red. Enjoy!

previous owner sold it because he bought a new JL Rubicon to tow behind his RV. He also had this awesome 1945 GPW.

🤤 I have a LJ rubicon with 56k and I’m still super jealous. Lol 2!! That’s awesome, looks super clean. I need to get me a 6 speed though. I’ll definitely be following this thread.

I appreciate it!

Down to 1 now. The 6 speed is wayyyy better than the auto in my opinion. Love these Jeeps big, small, auto, 6 speed, rubicon or not.
Big fan and i cant wait to see your build progress. I’m debating on 35s or 33s on my newly purchased LJR. I want to see how yours is standing when done.

I think we’ll end up being on 33’s /Rubicon JL take offs after the tummy tuck/1 inch body lift. Should be more than enough for our needs and run the highways a little better.

Nice Jeep! How many miles?

Yeah, but i do like that beefer look to it with 35s though.
Thanks! I purchased from a gentleman in DFW with 68K miles, 6speed, with a 4.6 stroker engine

Well not much has changed on the Jeep since we have put it back together. Since the Jeep is a little over 50,000 miles, we were going to flush the transmission and diff fluids.

If I’m going to go through the trouble of replacing the diff fluid, I wanted to get any recommendations on new diff covers. Waste of time? I know some can come into contact with the steering. Wasn’t sure if one brand was better than another. I’m open to suggestions. I ran SOLID diff covers on my XJ and never had any issues with them and liked them but I’d be curious to know what everyone is running on these TJ’s/LJ’s.

Got everything put back together today. Filled it up with gas, got an alignment, a car wash, and put some miles on it.

Feels great! Just waiting on the front Bilstein shocks, and the flat bar to finish mounting the locker pumps under the hood.

Next phase is to get a few dents popped out of the hood, get the half doors painted, and get the AEV rims mounted with new tires. This Jeep is near perfect right now! Seeing how everything came out today made all of the work put in worth it!

Where can I purchase that front bumper? I'm having no luck finding it.

It’s a discontinued Mopar bumper. Took me 2 years to complete the set. Good luck.

I managed to snag a front and rear set for my uncle too. Haven’t seen much come up for sale since. But then again, I haven’t been looking lol.
I just purchased a 2004 Rubicon that has ARB front and rear bumpers and I'm not a big fan of the front.

Decided to bite the bullet and knocked it out! Incase you were wondering, AEV Dana 44 JK covers work great for an LJ. I tried to include a few photos at full lock on both sides. Just enough clearance that it doesn’t rub the diff.

Understanding there is some flex here and there off road compared to the flat concrete I’m on, but I don’t think it will ever be an issue. The LJR this is on has 31’s and only 1 inch spacers front/rear. The rear diff has plenty of room too!

Well it’s been a little while since I posted and will probably be a little longer until I post again. Working on moving for my job to NW Arkansas. Really excited for a new opportunity. Got the half doors painted recently but still have to get the locks re-keyed before I can put them back together and put them on the Jeep. Really excited to get that done though and it will hopefully be sooner rather than later.

Finally received our front bilstein shocks that we ordered back in November. Got them installed yesterday and couldn’t help but get out and get some photos of the Jeep.

So until we get the half doors on with our new (never mounted on a Jeep) OEM khaki top with matching upper door skins and/or the new tires/AEV rims put on, enjoy the below!

I appreciate it! With some TLC, it’s coming out really nice. Going to try and do the 1 inch body and 1 inch motor mount lift and then mount a new set of tires on our AEV rims. Unsure of what size we want to go with though. We have 1 inch polyurethane spacers front/rear too. Love the idea of 33’s... but that might be a stretch.

I see your in Houston, are those pics at the Sam Houston NF? Any trails to drive around on? I'm about a hour and 15 from it.
Actually I’m in Fort Worth currently (about to be in North West Arkansas full time).

We typically go out to my dad’s business partners ranch around Waco for wheeling/hunting. But now that I’ll be in Arkansas we’ll have plenty of areas to go wheeling around.

Oh yes Arkansas should be fun. Take a look at the regional section. It looks like we'll be have a little TJ gathering at Hot Springs in Oct.
