My wife is like, well, you need R, so it’s happening someway, sometime, somehow, and here we are. 🤪

My AC evap is out, and has been since 2017. I don’t have to have it. Top comes off in Apr/May and goes back on in Sept/Oct. The heater core you can smell, so I was told it’s leaking, but it still heats, and has been like this since I got it in 2016. I just thought while I’m there fix them, but it’s not required.

The cooler I’ll have to figure out. I can do the cooler before and figure out mounting. I can also get a temp gauge brazed into the pan beforehand. It’s all just another thing to figure out. Thanks for the B&M tip.

I read that 05-06 X models don’t have the OD connector, and I pulled the center part of the dash and didn’t find it.

Would it not be easier to just add the plug and additional wiring? @mrblaine am I out in left field on this?

Since the OD plug and associated wiring are absent on JMT harness, would it not be easier to just add them versus replacing the entire harness.

We'll have to see what is involved. If you asked that about the earlier versions, I'd say yes if you don't mind some wiring but all that changed when they went to the NGC controller and switched to a gazillion different harness options.

We just had to swap the PCM connector on a swap because it wasn't drilled for the cruise control pins. I don't know how many would want to do that.

To add some clarity, there are two under dash harnesses. You don't replace the main one that goes to the instrument cluster. It is the dash controls part that gets replaced.

I think they are differentiated by dash and body harness.

Were those separated in later years? When I swapped out the dash harness in my 02 for hardtop wiring the instrument cluster was all part of the dash controls. The second harness (against firewall) was primarily for the fuse box and anything on the steering wheel.

I never pulled the harness when I did the auto swap on my 05. I just added the wires needed so I don't know what that harness looks like pulled out. The OD plug was already there and truth be told it was still a PITA.

@PNW_LJ

A Rubicrawler would be so ideal. I could get rid of the Tera 4-low case and return to a regular 231. That would give me the 2.72 to 1 ratio for snow and mud and then I could I have the rubicrawler and get whatever ratio I want it for the crawling stuff.

Not sure why, but I had thought you had a Rubicon.

The Rubicrawler adds another 2.72:1 reduction. I think that paired with your existing 4:1 would be the best of all worlds. Essentially a 4 speed Atlas, with none of the pain.

1:1
2.72:1 for trail riding and mud/snow
4:1 for rocks
10.88:1 for steep declines and flexing
