Without door surrounds, the soft uppers will flop and flutter around more than they will with the surrounds. And the horizontal portion of the surround is what the soft top attaches to.

The vertical section of the surrounds can be separated and removed to give the top something to secure to.

Ok, good. That helps. Now to finding more door surrounds. I found some several months ago for @Alex01 for $50 and shipped one or both sides off after he destroyed one of his, I think on Fordyce.

I've got one if you're interested. Driver side. Missing one knob though.

Im fairly confident you shipped both. I only used the passenger side.

I won't be back home until Friday to look but I think I have a extra pair.

Arghhh. That's what I get for not checking the forum enough. I went and bought some on FB from a guy in Tacoma. Should be here next week. Thanks to all of you for your kind offers. I still need the 4 knobs.

The more I think about a soft top the more I think it will be really nice. Some of the places I wheel I have to drive long distances, and it can get old with the top off and I really don't want to wheel with the hardtop on, at least not on anything dicey.

If the FB deal falls through, my offer still stands. You can have it for the price of shipping. This one has been sitting in the garage for years.

Can you fix the West side while you're over there Rick? (I know you live on the East side) 😉

Soft top is nice, perfect to get you to the trail without wind and easy to remove so you can enjoy the air when you arrive. Certainly not as quite as the hard top though. I don't regret selling my hard top years ago.

I am however sad that my soft top finally gave up the ghost and need to buy another. I'll procrastinate until the end of summer though I'm sure.

If you’re not going to be taking them on and off often you can just use some 8mm1.25 75mm bolts (harder to steal).

If you really want the knobs pm me your address and I’ll send you my spare set.

That's a good idea with the 8mm 1.25 pitch 75mm bolts. I think I'll start with that and go from there. Thank you so much for both the offer and the idea. 💡

Just returned from our maiden voyage pulling the Luna Teardrop with the Jeep GC Hemi. Man this thing pulls nice. The trailer is only about 2500lb, but the Hemi pulls it far better than the GMC 5.3L. Holds speed through the N Idaho Rocky Mountains. Just a joy to drive. So much power!

For Father’s Day we went to Lost Moose Campground in the N ID panhandle. All the kids came! We planned to hike Sheep Springs/ Crystal Lake trail. It’s gorgeous terrain. Very diverse. I wore my knee compression socks and did pretty well. With the packed snow and wet rocks some of us slipped and fell. Great day though, and beautiful destination at Crystal Lake! I want to hike it with a paddle board and spend the day in the lake.
