Just to clarify, there are two shift cables that come off of the shifter. One for the transmission, and one that goes to the key cylinder so the Jeep can’t be shifted without the key and foot on brake/key can’t be removed without being in park. IIRC correctly, a first gen Jeep Liberty interlock cable is the same as the TJ.

Blaine mentioned it on your other thread, but there’s a little ball and detent that gets swapped out under the cylinder as well for said cable. That can also come from a Liberty. That’s where I got mine. I think I sent some extra pieces to Blaine and Mike and they worked.

If you over cool it it's not good either.

I have the same issue. In the winter I'm lucky if I hot 100 degrees.

It’s not done yet. Blaine is going to be taking over once I get a few more things. Fortunately the guy I got the transmission from has everything else too except for a few things because it was a part out.

If you can find a part out, it’s a great way to go. I think I’m only getting four parts, but they’re important: tranny, torque converter, flex plate, and harness. The rest are just pieces. My biggest lack is not having mrblaine. My biggest help is having an 04 and 05 42rle in the driveway. Hope all goes well with yours. I’m excited to see how different my rig is both on and off-road. Thank you for the pic. Now I just have to find those parts.

Yes, we are. The best hands. I saw a guy do an early model manual to 32rh swap, and I was very skeptical he could do it, but it turned out perfect, so I’m hopeful. Didn’t we wheel Top of the World together in 2021?

Depends how you define struggling.

Offroad, I would prefer it to be lower. But with the auto, all I need to do is power through the brakes when needed.

I daily drive it and go on the freeway. It’ll do 80+, but I prefer to keep it at 65. OD off full-time of course.

Obviously, it’s slow, but not as horrible as I’d thought it would be. And I do drive other vehicles occasionally so I think I have a fair understanding.



Needless to say, when I do regear, I’ll almost certainly be going to 5.89s.
