I just picked this off a 2004 TJ (Dana 44 with disc brakes). Completely stock and no accident damage.

You must not really be serious, except for maybe breakfast burritos.

In my opinion this is a better place to start , than "building " the D-35 . You can add upgrades to the 44 as you go , ( other than matching ratios ) .
After dealing with my girls 2 stock 4.0 auto Cherokees on 235's hammering D-35 I'm not a fan in the least . I will ask what others won't , what did it cost ? ( don't feel like you need to answer , just real curious at the going rate ) . Thanks HJ.

That's the key, the total cost. When I grenaded my Dana 35 3-4 years ago local TJ Dana 44 take outs with the wrong ratio were running $1,500-2,500. Now I'm seeing TJ D44s on market place for $1,000 fairly frequently. It's bull shit.

From the junkyard, the axle without brakes is $280. With brakes I was just over $300. Used to be cheaper. I've sold over a dozen axles over the years and the going rate was $1000. With disc, I would sell at $1200. If you think that's bad, get one from an actual parts reseller! This was how I got money to pay for other parts. Just like heroin.

I already have a spare window frame jackass.

A guy beat me to the top and doors as I was walking up or I would have pulled them.
