So my battery died. Got it April of 2013 so pretty satisfied it's lasted this long. Any recommendations on best brand to replace it with? Not going to drop $250+- on Optima. Thanks in advance

Odyssey is the best replacement battery as far as I know. However, it's right up there with the Optima in terms of price.

Since there are only 6 or so major battery manufacturing plants in the world, you can be assured that most batteries all come from the same place, they just slap different logos on them. Personally, if I wanted something a bit cheaper, I'd probably go get a Sears DieHard battery as they've always been good to me.

I like Walmart batteries for three reasons.
1) for me they have lasted just as long as $200+ Optima’s that I’ve had
2) Walmart’s return/refund/exchange policy can’t be beat
3) There is a Walmart in almost any town you visit in the US. Making it convenient if you need to exchange the battery

I always like the AGM (Odyssey, or Optima) I like them because they virtually don't vent, and you can mount them in any configuration with no issues. I personally use the Optima Yellow tops. The red will work too, and it is a little cheaper, but I use mine for a winch also that is why I use the yellow. (The reason why mine are sideways is because there are two of them stacked.) If I was going to run a regular fluid battery, I would run Interstate. I have always had good luck with them. I just don't personally like fluid batteries anymore.

Get the biggest sears die hard gold or platinum battery, especially if you live where it gets cold.

Never had any issues and Sears warranty is pretty darn good.
