Bronco vs. Wrangler

Time to bring back this thread now that the bronco is actually out.

Flex doesn't look that great.

Around 8 min and 15:20 you can see some flex shot - Tire lifting warning.

So, my son said, those approach and departure angles are not that great. It's already on 35" tires, so what are you going to do to improve it? I thought that was a good question. There are things you can do, like give it more lift, but by comparison:

My TJ on 33's, approach angle = 53.1*/departure = 43*
Bronco on 35's, approach angle =43.2*/departure = 37.2*

A lot of these American companies like Ford, GM, etc, the only thing American about them is who owns them and where the CEOs park their helicopters. Everything else is usually "globally sourced". I think for several years the Toyota Camry was the car with the highest amount of American content.
Lol...so originally from the uk and living here for 20 years I thought I’d buy an archetypal American truck. I bought a Ram 3500 Long Horn. Practically every single part on it says ‘ Proudly made in Mexico’.

Tires and lift. - that said I would imagine it's going to be more expensive to do that on a bronco with IFS vs a Jeep with a solid axle.

Jeeps answer was to add a factory 35" and 1.5" lift package (JLU only from what I gather)

I thought the same with my 2500. The engine says made in America at least lol.

RTR is working on 40’s for theirs. The Raptor version is supposed to be on 37’s from the factory.

Compared to a JL Rubicon I'm sure the Bigfoot package will do just about the same on the trail. Nice to see something different that doesn't totally suck. The approach and departure angles don't seem all that different to me, nothing really does. It's practically a Rubicon clone if you get down to it. I'd suggest that a TJ and LJ in stock form would probably show more differences on the trail than these two rivals when you get down to what they can and cannot do. Tell you the truth I would have pre-ordered the Ford if they had offered one with a TTB.

Looking up abbreviation TTB and don't think I know what that is. I see Tedeschi Trucks Band (Local to Jax FL), Test Tube Baby, Tax and Trade Bureau, Time to Bomb and Team T Bag. Which of those are you referring to?

That will be fun to see. I'd assume they will be adding a good amount of beef to run 40's but to be fair a JLU would need quite a bit of $$$ thrown at it to run them as well.

I can see the bronco as a good vehicle for many but the perception I have of it currently is that it is going to lack the flex needed for a lot of the or difficult trails around here. I'm sure they can be done but I prefer to keep the tires on the ground as much as possible.

If the aftermarket though can make 37s fit, add a bit of lift, and allow the front to flex out a bit more though I bet it will be a strong contender on the rocks. I do however see it dominating in the desert. The jeep isn't going to be able to keep up in the sand especially if they add the V6 from the raptor.

The RTR Bronco I saw in Moab had 37’s. I think it was stock other than that. LiteBrite did a video on it.

They say earlier in the video that the vehicle they are driving doesn't have the sway bar disconnect, so that is a connected sway bar... not apples to apples if comparing to a Jeep with disconnected or AR in front.

I doubt it will be as good anyway, but it will be better than that example if you just buy it with the factory disconnect. Dumb that that sasquatch version didn't have it...

this marker shows them being hung with a tire in the air then disconnecting the swaybar (different vehicle)... Can a JK or JL do that? I always heard they have to be level... noticeable flex difference.

Just got back from the Dodge dealer so my Dad could get his truck. Was sitting there thinking a salesman would came by and want to sell me a new Jeep.

That new shiite costs to mush.

JL needs to be on level ground in order to disconnect the sway bar. But it also doesn't lose ground clearance when you hit the button as the Bronco did.

Not an apples to apple comparison but the stock JLUR flexes out pretty good

it certainly would lose ground clearance somewhere, just not between the tires where the Bronco's crossmember lowered down.

Not impressed. Chevy is really sticking it to the Blazer and the Bronco. this one actually worst than the Bronco 2.

I think the Broncos are cool they fill a much needed niche.

Basically have

4Runner
Bronco
Wrangler

From least to most capable depending on what you want. I think a lot of people that were gonna buy a 4Runner will buy a bronco now. I don’t think many that were gonna buy a Jeep will buy a bronco.
