Sand Hollow.
I've now been asked many times to compare Sand Hollow to Moab. And which do I prefer?
Very different experiences. Victor said something similar over on his thread. Moab has the scenery, and the town of Moab is really, really cool. One of my favorite little towns anywhere. Sand Hollow does not have a cool little town. It has Hurricane (pronounced Herr-i-kin) and St. George. Both of which, are, well, just little towns. Nothing special. And although there is cool scenery, Sand Hollow does not match Moab in my view.
The wheeling is very different. Lots of traction - even better than Moab in some ways - but where Moab is huge, the Sand Hollow State park is only about six miles across. Moab is about doing long trails with relatively few major obstacles, and you can spend all day doing one or two trails. Sand Hollow is packed, and I mean packed, full of hardcore obstacles. Victor and I guessed (wildly) that there are something like 5-10 times the number of hardcore obstacles compared to Moab. There are very, very few obstacles in Moab that my rig won't do. In sand hollow - there are dozens.
Moab can be very dusty. Strangely, Sand Hollow is not. No even a little bit. The sand stays on the ground. Now, I also ran Torquorville Falls with my wife - which is way outside of the park - and that was crazy dusty.
Moab is all about the ledges and climbs. Sand Hollow is all about the V-Notch. Hence this:
I've wheeled Moab many, many times. I've wheeled Sand Hollow once. Anyone who has wheeled with me knows that I am not afraid to put my rig into harm's way. It definitely looks better than it deserves - although I do credit my armor for much of that. But I did more body damage to my rig this one time in Sand Hollow than all of my previous Moab trips. It is just different.
Moab is near great parks: Arches, Canyon Lands, Dead Horse Point. Sand Hollow is as well. Zion (unbelievable), Grand Canyon, Bryce. So, a tie on this point in my view.
But I loved Sand Hollow.
I summarize it this way: Moab is all about the experience. Sand Hollow is all about the wheelin'.
What can I say - Victor will tell you that I like the poser shots...

The Chute is among the most iconic obstacles in Sand Hollow. On the videos I've seen it looks crazy and scary. This is one time where the videos do not do it justice - in person, it's not bad at all:

I'd like to see a video/picture of where you got your trail rash.
"The Fallen" is a trail dedicated to our service members who have given their ultimate sacrifice. There is a monument accessible only by an off road rig. It was very touching, and solemn. I had the privilege of seeing it with Rick, and a bit through his eyes. I was quite moved.
