Word has it Mendo National will be offering Xmas tree permits stating tomorrow, but they will only be available at the Willows or Stonyford locations. I haven't called to verify that. Can't believe they are offering them out after most of them are crispy!

Yea I pick up my permit from the Willows Office. I'm sure there is still plenty around the F-7 and Plaskett Meadows area.
I wonder how many ppl buy those permits. We have done it the past 6 years or so. $10 for a fresh tree you pick or $35-$60 hell even $80 and up for a parking lot one that is probably already dead

I was just thinking we should do something. I need to get some action shots too. Hoping to get adjustable CAs sometime too so I can finally turn my plow into more of a shovel.

Maybe a Thanksgiving run? My neck of the woods is a crispy critter and all shut down, but @Thunderhead 's back yard is still good to go. What say you @Thunderhead ?

I'll be in LA from the 21-25th. If its before or after those dates then I'm in. Anyone know any good spots for a snow run later in the season? I think that could be a good time.

I'm down. With this weather we should be g2g. Tons of places to explore up here on the M-2 or M-4 or the F-7 if I'm to far North.

I've had some good snow runs up the F-7 and on the M-2. I did really well in 4-5 inches but once it gets thicker than that i will need to follow lol

He's talking Mendocino National forest lingo. Yes, forest service trails. There are tons of them, and some can be sporty.

SO... some ideas to bat around.
The F-7 goes from willows (hwy 162 ) over to Covalo.
If you can find Coring on a map and look west you see Paskinta, from there the M-2 is the north side of the mountain with lots of cool camping and ridges
From Paskinta there is the M-4 on the south side of the mountain. It has the Conservation Corps camp at the bottom, Log Springs, Sugar Springs and Grindstone areas.
Everyone feel free to throw out ideas based on what we should do, if we want to ride trails, camp, see the trail the Indians got escorted out the area over to Covalo

I wouldn’t mind camping if I could figure out something to do with the doggo which also might depend on the timing, I don’t think she’d appreciate the sportier stuff in the Jeep she can get a bit car sick hah.

I'm sure this run will go down the weekend of thanksgiving so I'll be out. But, I'm down to get up there once some snow falls on the ground. Perhaps I'll finally get to use my newly repaired new winch for the first time.

I could probably swing that. I'll just need to convince one of the grandparents to watch the kids. I can only imagine how fun it would be to bring a 1.5 year old along and have her sleep in the pack and play in the tent.

We could do a day run. It would be a long day for you bay area crew. If you two are up for camping, you could head up Friday night and camp near Willows, then we could meet up early Saturday morning.

I was thinking the 17th too Tom. Lunch at Plaskett Meadows, explore the area, then I could either lead them down to Covelo, or we could just double back down the 7 back to SR5. I'd like to take the M1 to Hull, but that's just too long and not enough daylight to pull it off.
