Selling on ebay be like...

All the used marketplaces suck as a seller these days (other than here, which has been pleasant overall). To not have to deal with local no-shows I used eBay and got this message today:

I can only laugh, as I sell maybe one or two things a year on eBay. There's no upside for me even if this person was legit, which they aren't.

I replied "prove it" and they linked a big tech reviewer that gets these things straight from the manufacturer, not begging on eBay.

Anyone else with funny messages from buyers?

Man I feel your pain. I used to love selling on ebay in the early days, now its just another amazon. There are no good options for us small time sellers anymore. Craigslist is all but dead, ebay isn't for small sellers anymore, and facebook marketplace is a sh*tshow.

I got a message from someone that wasn't the buyer saying "hey, I used the wrong address - can you please send it here instead?"... and there's no good way to report scamming losers to ebay that I could find.

Not that message but I tried to buy a Crown OPDA and got the "it takes too much time to keep up with the 30,000 parts we have listed so here is your money back on the out of stock we don't know when we will get another one item".

Thanks and now you're gonna pull the listing so you don't sucker some other fool into buying it, right? Right??

I've been on eBay since 1998. It ain't what it used to be, and it certainly sucks to be a seller there, esp. a "garage sale" type seller like me just wanting to get rid of the misc. "stuff" I don't need anymore. But - it still works, I'll give it that. I buy/sell on Craigslist on occasion, just gotta tell the scammers to fuck off.

Buying on eBay is generally better than buying anywhere else - as long as you can correctly identify what you're after. I've only been ripped off once, and eBay made it right, so I can't complain. Just don't try to sell an Hermes scarf there.

If it's not a significant amount of money, say, more than $100 I just donate it these days. Trying to reply to all the asshats is just not worth it.
Put an ad for 16 X 8 Jeep wheels on fb Sunday and made sure to note that they had NO CENTER CAPS!

In 4 hours I had half a dozen messages asking if there were centercaps and two asked if the would fit 15" tires.

I love the "cash money" statement. What ever happened to the third party out of state check? I'm going to start putting Nepalese coin value in my listings. It won't make any difference, nobody reads the ad anyway.

Businesses used to put coupons in newspapers which would attract DOZENS of buyers at a discount. Now you can pay and "influencer" to review your product that will be seen by millions. Call it what you will but paying for advertising has been a part of business for ever. Fake inlfuencers are just the new "put your add on my placemat" scheme.
