Project "Frankentrailer"

Thank you. I scuffed the wheel face with a red scotchbrite pad, cleaned it, and masked off the pattern. Sprayed it with Duplicolor wheel paint, and clearcoat.

I may have to make an attempt at that, only I would probably go with Plastdip over actual paint. That looks so freakin' awesome. Once again, nice job on the wheels.

Great work! Don’t know how I missed this thread, but I’m all caught up now, months later. What a transformation from a couple of YJ tubs. Very creative!

Lol, I was thinking the same thing...somehow I missed this thread.

@bobthetj03 man this is awesome! Well done, can't wait to see it all loaded up with the RTT on there. Good looking dogs too!

Holy thread resurrection guys! Thanks for the kind words. Hoping a RTT is in the not too distant future for Franky. Plans are to bust the trailer back down and put a proper paint job on it, plus some more needed body work.

That is way over my head for a build, so very impressive. Did you finish the rtt? I would love to see finished pics of that.

By the way I’ll need mine in red.

No RTT yet. Maybe next year. I used Franky recently to haul a load of firewood up to my daughter's house. does that count for something?

I think this was my 10th time going all of the way through this thread. Out of all the trailers I've seen built this one is my favorite. Seriously great job, maybe someday I'll build one as well!

Please update us on the RTT, that is my next large Jeep purchase (Need to get it before Spring). Things slowing down since my pockets need some time to recover from recent mods ;). Any idea which one you are leaning towards more?

Thanks for the kind words. If you saw it up close you wouldn't be quite as impressed, but it's a work in progress. The RTT is going to be a while. Most of my camping monies are going into my RV right now. The generator isn't working, so I have to pull the unit out of the RV and take to an Onan service center to figure out why it won't stay running. I'm leaning towards a Tepui RTT right now. They are fairly close to us in Santa Cruz, and they seem to have a good following. I will also need a custom annex made so my dogs have a warm, dry place to bed down. The tent won't sit as high on the trailer as it would if it were on top of the jeep, so I'll need to customize the annex to suit.

Understandably so. I'd be just as impressed in person, a suspension loaded trailer hand built is a thing to be proud of :D.
