You can replace the entire front fender, but you then have to add an inner fender - which you can also get from Genright and is what I run. This allows you to sell the original fenders intact and recoup some money. The Genright inner fender design also provides more space under the hood compared to using the stock inner fender - as discussed below.

The other option is to cut your existing fenders and basically install the highlines over the cut fenders (you also raise the existing fenders to meet the highline) allowing you to use the stock inner fender. This works - but for me using the Genright inners was a much better overall solution.

Those are steel, but if I were doing it now I’d go aluminum - not available back when I originally installed ‘em.

You know, there was something else not available in aluminum back then, and I know how much you like projects and saving weight. Just if you're bored with the new "tow pig".

Doing a few last minute things to the rig before heading out to Moab.

Reminds me to toss that book in before I leave. I actually got my book after you showed that pic of yours next the upside down rig.

How long will the trip be for you?

It's a bit over 1500 miles for me. I try to do 1000 the first day, and that makes for a shorter second day into Moab. 21, 22 hours or so total.

Truth is, every time I wheel I secure everything as if I'm going to roll the thing - even if it is not likely. How many roll-over and flop video's have we seen where everything comes out of the rig. Those folks did not expect to roll either...

That's the smartest choice. I'm always amazed at how many people don't wear a seatbelt off road. It's one thing to send a cooler flying, but totally different when someone flies out, and we've all seen those videos.

I stumbled across this video of setting up backup-assist on the Tow-Pig. It struck me as funny because for some reason I started counting the things I could see that would set Zorba off...

Good thing my phone is not visible.

EDIT: just realized it's your video. I've never used it on my truck. I tried the parallel park assist on a test drive once and it was too much for me to not grab the wheel when it's spinning.

I'll tell you what, I'm pretty good with a big trailer. I've been towing good sized stuff for well over 40 years. When I got this thing, I never thought I would use the backup assist, but I set it up one day just for kicks (it takes a bit of configuration). It works crazy well. Especially on long straight reverse runs. I'm almost embarrassed to say I'd use the thing occasionally.

Oh, I have no doubt they work really well. I have been backing trailers starting with big horse trailers since I was a teenager. I'm OK at it and have always kind of enjoyed it. I'm just not willing let tech steal that pleasure from me. Kidding about the man card, of course (sort of). If you like it, go for it. When it breaks, I'll be happy to help a brother out if you find your finely honed skills acquired over so many years have atrophied
