Fucking Savvy fan boys!

Please....

If addressing half the stuff that breaks on our Jeeps (including OEM parts) was as easy to a quick trip to a China.

I've got a shit ton of Garvin stuff on my Jeep too. I've never had any issue with it. I purchased it and continued to purchase it for the same reason I listed.

Not a lot breaks on my Jeep. You can ascertain the value of that statement by how and where I use it.

The weight is wrong on the website. The Savvy front weighs less than a stock front bumper apples to apples. Throw the hardware, corners, and bumper on a scale and it is less than a stock front with the rubber bumpers and milk jugs with hooks and hardware.

When you want me to modify a big brake kit to work with a hub conversion, I do my part in 24 hours or less exclusive of weekends. I will tell you right up front that once the parts go to the machine shop, it is not in my control and it can take from 2 days to 2 months to get them back depending on what is going on. They won't break down a job on a machine to run my pair or two pair of rotors.

I have had several instances before I started that policy where I would call the machine shop, get told a delivery date and give that to the customer only to have been lied to. I no longer do that, I just tell them that it will get here when it gets here and there is nothing I can do to speed it up. We work with the best info we have and since I don't like lying to customers for any reason or cause, the only way I don't is to tell them I DO NOT KNOW how long it will take and if that is too long, wait to send the parts until it isn't.
Blaine. I didn’t use the weight claimed from the website. I called Them and Gerald himself told me the weight was 15 lbs not including the winch guard, hooks or hardware. He added that those items were close to 8 additional pounds and the GR with winch guard and no hardware or hooks was 20 lbs on my bathrooms scale.

As for the machine shop example again that’s poor customer service and for Gerald to be the one that originally told me two weeks then extend, extend and extend is a poor way to do business. Just because it’s the norm of the machine shop you work with and they make your business delayed isn’t an excuse for others to operate business the same way.

If I had to chose aluminum (I'll keep my steel and my $$$ as it suits my needs) I'd go Genright. Why? Simply because if I want a Genright bumper I can go down to where they make them and get one. If there is a problem, I can go down there and solve it. I've met a lot of the Genright guys. They don't have as many people swinging off their nuts as Savvy but they are still a mostly respected brand, mostly friendly and open, and they are not hard to get ahold of either by phone or in person. Doesn't matter how good a product is if you can't get it or you can't afford it.
Good customer service goes a long way. Thus my point in all of this debating.

That wasn't my point at all. My point was we all have been something something we act upon in good faith and then that gets changed after we have relayed info to customers. Shit happens.

We all buy stuff for different reasons. Customer service, assuming it is ever needed, is a once per purchase event. What I actually care about is the final product, it's performance and the expectation that I won't need to contact the seller with any future problems once I have the thing I bought.
That’s assuming you go to buy the product and they have it in stock, not tell you they do or will in two weeks then push it out over and over again. If the same had happened to you the decision you made might not have been the same.

Ill

I’ll. Hold a set of corner guards myself then I’ll be set.
I think you are saying a set of corner guards will fix your bumper problem and that isn't true. The only way to fix the problem would be to plate the whole bumper because it is NOT 6061 T6. It is impossible for it to be due to the bends. It is a far softer/weaker 5000 series alloy.

Odd. GR lists it as 6061-T6 on their website and the bumper I received had it printed on the metal. That a lot of work to have their guys Sharpie that on there just to cover up a 5000 series aluminum.

Been there a couple times with Savvy. I got my stuff and never looked back after getting over my momentary irritation. Then I do it again later. We value different things.

Savvy is a designer and small boutique manufacturer of strong flawless products with an elegant design aimed at a small percentage of very hardcore wheelers. If you're happy with your Genright after not being able to wait for a Savvy, that's no skin off anyone's nose but your own very pissy nose.

As Blaine already confirmed above, 6061 won't bend to the angle on their bumpers. They can claim it if they want but...

You should include enough to cover a Savvy logo for all of yours that look down on anyone that uses something else.
I'm not looking down on you or anyone else though. I simply don't care enough to do so. I'm just pointing out just like I do about 99.% of the stuff I post, that just because things appear to be similar, does not make them so. There are vast differences in how stuff works and the only way you can know what is and what isn't is for someone who knows to be able to educate as to the how and why.

I have not a single time said what bumper anyone should run nor will I. It is only when the "mine is the same as" bullshit starts do I explain why that is not quite true. Again, observation is not judgement or a position.

That’s assuming I see a flaw or failure with the GR, which hasn’t happened yet and may not.

Why do we have to keep doing this? 6061-T6 can not be bent in a tight 90 degree bend. It is impossible because it will break. Look at the bend at the front of your bumper, then look at the bend on the front of the Savvy. The Savvy has the tightest bend you can do in 6061 T6 and I know that because I stood in the shop helping the owner build dies and test them to see what was the tightest bend possible so we could design the bumper around those bends.

Stop already. We get it, you're pissy. Do not expect that GR bumper to take the abuse a Savvy will because it won't. I explained that to the owner of this one. It lasted exactly one trip to JV. He was up on a line trying to find some traction, slipped off, fell about a foot, bumper hit a rock sticking up, completely trashed it. It is not 6061T6 and will not stand up to any abuse in the rocks. View attachment 229598
out of curiosity, can 6061-T6 be formed/bent/broke to a 90 with that small of a radius in the same thickness as a Savvy bumper? Nice looking bumper, especially in the raw finish, but it appears that it was built like a steel bumper. I would imagine I would see stress fractures on a close up.

Weird, I swear I was writing this as Blaine was typing.
