I got the Currie steering delivered from @sjalkian. This thing is beefy. TR end is bad on one end. The other boots look like they’re on their last leg. Is it common for the boots to split early? What’s the scoop on the steel vs aluminum TR?

Are you asking what is the reasons for running an aluminum tie rod over a steel tie rod?

My understanding is that the aluminum TR is suppose to be able to bend and then return to it's original shape where a steel TR is just going to bend. That is what I remember from when the idea of using aluminum for TR first came out.

But I'm sure my ignored person could shed more information on the subject.

The boots all have an opening in them, like a little nipple, to burp out extra grease.

Oh yeah, those are shot. Four new ones is a good investment...as long as the joints are still good. If the joints have already let dirt in, replace the joint...they come with a free boot!

I think the joints are still good. I'm going to clean them out real good with some brake cleaner, then install the new boots and fill them with grease.

New joints are $82 each!

Yeah, I’m coming through next week for the Walker Evans shocks! next Saturday to be precise. I’ll be in touch with you about the time. Don’t want to mess up your day.

It looks like they will. We’re on Grimm Jeeper and I’m showing them that the RPM difference between 32’s and 33’s with the 42rle is very minimal. After fooling around with the calculator they decided on 513 gears.

Ive got a42rle and 33s and it works great love. I think it’ll handle 35sjust fine.

Currie Tie Rod will be straight by tomorrow evening. Removed all the boots and cleaned everything up. Anti-Seize on all the threads with Duct tape covering till install. Ground off all sharp edges. Painted the Drag Link, one Tie Rod end, and the Collar, I need to replace one Zerk, grab a few cotter pins, a couple bolts and nuts. Should be good to go! @sjalkian must wheel hard. This thing has taken some abuse in 8 wheelin' trips bro!

Got the tie rod straightened. It’s pretty much perfectly straight. My neighbor did it for me, he’s talented and has access to a press. Laying on several different sides. It’ll get some new paint today.

Looks perfect to me! I went through the same process to get my steering. Had to replace all the boots and bend the tie rod straight again but got a killer deal.

I feel like I'm lifting tires a lot more with 35's, but I also feel more stable when I do. Is this normal?

I don't like the KM3's as much as the Maxxis Razr's off-road. @NashvilleTJ has complained about the Razr's holding up under off-road stuff. i'm sure that's true, but they do wheel good while the tire is still good. I don't know about the KM3's though. I'm kinda like, meh....Nothing totally negative, just no wow factor, and there are things I did on the 33" Razr's that I couldn't do on the 35" KM3's. There's still the snow coming this winter, so maybe that will shed some light on the good qualities of the KM3. More knowledge. Up to this point, I'd run the Cooper STT Pro's over any of them, Maxxis Razr's second, but longevity is the issue there, so maybe not a good choice. Patagonia's rock I'm sure. LOL

Sold the Cooper Discoverer AT3 32x11.5's for $500 today, so the total cost to move into the 35's and the boys into 33's was $339 + mount and balance, about $460
