Basket's Build

I threw a tire on the balancer for fun.

Decently centered without any weight... It's a little hard because even a slight breeze will get the wheel wobbling haha

You may have already watched this video, but I thought the Y method was helpful as well as his discussion of the bubble balancer itself and making sure it's a good one.

I hope yours turn out great! I still haven't taken the plunge because I'm waiting on a suspension part to see if that solves the shimmies I'm getting.

Pretty darn good...

Yeah I could probably run that. I'm thinking I'm gonna try running them no weights and see how it is. For science! And then maybe remove and balance. And if it still sucks... Beads. But I'm optimistic it won't suck!

I have not, I read the chinese-translated instructions and went for it 😂 thanks for the reference I will watch that later today. It will probably help.

Watch one bubble balancer video and now they are all recommended. This guy has some interesting tools though. Also shows how to fix a bubble balancer.

Not exactly a glowing report. Bubble balancers need work. His was nice after he MADE those two parts. Small tires too. I want to see how Trevor comes out.

A big point was that you have to make sure you can trust the balancer before putting a tire on it, however you get there.

I put the tires on my jeep yesterday. I figured I'd run them first with no weights at all, for science. Well, they feel just like my old tires. I got up to about 70, no vibrations or shimmies or anything. Feels just like my old tires except they seem to absorb smaller road vibrations a little bit better. Improvement all around.

So... sorry to disappoint but I might not mess with the bubble balancer this time. I'll drive it around this week some more and see if I change my mind.

Looks Great with the new sneakers...

Since I can't afford a regear this year I had the random idea to throw another lunchbox locker in my rear axle. Have any of you guys done that before and how much would it suck?

I'd have two lunchboxes so would that essentially turn it into a trail only rig.

I ran Lock Rites in my '97 and I still daily drove it, you just need to remember to "coast" around corners, and be smooth and light on the throttle when shifting. In the winter months you need to use a little more caution because it will toss you into a fish tail pretty quick if you aren't paying attention.

Hmmmm. I already don't really like the way it drives in the snow.
