If you bought them in June and it has popped out twice, there is an issue that you need to find before just installing a new snap ring. I should have a set of Currie Front Upper Control Arms laying behind the shed somewhere I can send you if that UCA JJ keeps giving you problems. They are not the double adjustable arms, just the original single adjustable links.

Yeah agree. I will be cycling the suspension to see if anything is binding. If I was smart I'd have checked if the axle was centered before taking off the tires, whoops.

I do not know if the second time is due to me reusing a warped snap ring or not? Not sure that would cause it to pop out easier. #2 might be an invalid data point.

And thank you... If I can't figure out this in a reasonable amount of time I'll gladly buy them off you. Setting the lock nuts on double adjustable is it's own pain in the butt anyways hahaha.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic or short sighted but it seems like it's gotta be the joint itself not something else since my OEM arms weren't completely demolished when I removed them. Just normal old rubber bushing looking.

That was quite some time ago (about a decade, I think). I read a thread on that issue on another forum at least three years ago, and it was old news then. As I recall, the cause was attributed to chipped tooling on the CNC machine that didn't get noticed. It resulted in the groove having a tapered lip, which should be easily visible, if that's the cause.

Interesting... I can look again for some kind of bevel in the lip later. I don't have many precision measuring tools but I have a set of calipers I can at least check if the housing is out of round somehow maybe.

I went and got them out of the scrap pile (they were just removed Thanksgiving weekend so they haven't been sitting back there that long).
Here is the uppers (I didn't clean them off):

I think I rebuilt the joints this past Feb.

And the lowers have a little bend but you are welcome to them as well.

The cost would be a beer the next time I see you. I beat on my stuff so hard that I never feel right selling it for money, just a shared beer here and there.

So early this week my family re-re-decided where to do Christmas, and we are back to doing it at my house. I figured if I was going to host it I wanted a real tree, not some lame plastic crap. The tree cutting area is like 12mi from my house, after all... So, I guess it was time to finally figure out that chainsaw my dad gave me.

I think I talked about this in the thread previously, but when I got it it didn't run worth shit, had a full tank of fuel, and I knew it had sat outside for at least a year while they tried to sell their old house. So early in the year I put a new carb (amazon knockoff, this will bite me in the ass later), fuel line, air filter, and spark plug in it. Couldn't get it to start, got distracted, and it sat (inside, mind you).

Time to get it running before Christmas! I had an absolute hell of a time getting it to idle & run with any power. For starters, I'm a millennial, so I don't know a damn thing about carbs. Most of the tuning videos I watched seemed to recommend a "bracketing" approach where you find out where its too lean to run well, then the same but too rich, and then find the sweet spot in between. Well, it seems like the cheapo carb isn't quite right, and I was completely unable to get the low screw to go in far enough to make it run like crap due to being too lean. I suppose I should be happy it is erring on the side of being rich so it doesn't melt down, but what a pain in the ass.

After probably 4 hours across a couple days messing with it and trying to cut stuff I have it "good enough". Not sure its exactly right, but the exhaust is smokey enough I don't think it's too lean and it idles and cuts so I'm content. Cut down my first tree in my life:

A little scary, but I didn't die so that's cool. So this morning when I was ordering my permit I noticed this little gem:

Well... whoops. Nice to have a running chainsaw, I needed one, but now wasn't the best time to fit that in if I knew better. Guess I'm cuttin my tree like my ancestor's ancestor's ancestor.

Hate to say it, but if you don't use the chainsaw regularly, it will probably fight you every time you go to use it. I got rid of my gas one and got a 60v Dewalt several years ago. Works great with no hassle.

How long can you cut with it with 1 battery?

If I was keeping up with wood for my stove I would probably need to cut 3-4 cords a year which would keep it pretty active. But I haven't been...

Run time depends on the type of cutting. If I'm trimming trees cutting 3"-6" branches, it will go maybe an hour. If I take down a 10" tree and go nonstop cutting the trunk up, it will go about 30 minutes. I have 2 batteries, so I can go a while, but with 3 batteries I think you could go nonstop while they charge. Mine is either a 16" or 18" bar, and works really well.

I'd thought about getting an electric saw for the Jeep since you don't use them often and runtime is just long enough to clear the trail but I'm worried about the batteries staying topped off. I can run some Stabil in the tank which makes it start easier the next time.
I've got to buy a new saw here soon.

I'd thought about getting an electric saw for the Jeep since you don't use them often and runtime is just long enough to clear the trail but I'm worried about the batteries staying topped off. I can run some Stabil in the tank which makes it start easier the next time.

What brand powertools do you use. Most have a small saw that takes two 18v batteries so you can rotate them into regular use?

If you do end up cutting your own wood to burn in your wood stove, trust me stick with gas. Husqvarna and Stihl are top of the line. Pro tip... get a Stihl carb for the one you have and it will probably outlast your needs.

Also invest in a good sharpening tool for the chain, and get at least 1 extra chain as a spare. You'll want to do this for gas or battery powered anyway.

Similar - I bought my first M12 tools this season. Excited to see the usability vs air tools. Still need to pick up a 3/8" impact. Been hoping for a sale but looking less likely. If not by new years, I'll pick that up at regular price.

Really like my M18 drill & impact driver (not Impact wrench) set from a few years back to replace my Dewalt set that had their batteries finally give out after 10+ years.
