Now what good would a second perfectly fine and working hardtop do for me, I already have one

I've got one that's the same color as yours. You could just tell everyone you fixed yours!!!

Took the full setup out over the weekend to test for Moab!

Things went well, no real issues with the tow setup.

Camped near BV

Went out to chinamans gulch, I was camped about 20mins away. Always a fun trail and the views are always killer

Some problems that I found over the trip:

The water tank in the camper must be cracked or something, it just dumps out all the water when you fill it. I'll have to replace it, doesn't seem all that likely it'll happen before Moab. But I hardly do any cooking out there anyways.

The Jeep wouldn't start after towing it home? Battery wasn't dead but there was NO power when putting in the key. I disconnected the battery for a bit and reconnected and it was back to normal.

Plugging in the compressor now shuts the Jeep down and it acts like it has no battery for a few mins before starting like normal.

Not sure if the last two are related or not. Was gonna try to figure out the compressor this week and just going to flat tow with the battery disconnected. Haven't been able to find any wires rubbed or anything like that

The net is new this year to keep the doggo inside the vehicle in Moab...

Took a drive with no top at all, I haven't done that since I first got it. It's fun but top with no sides is totally the way to go, too much sun in the face.

Regarding the last post... Jeep compressor now works, I didn't really change anything. No clue what was going on there. And the water tank in the camper also doesn't leak anymore. So I fixed all that without doing anything 🎉🎉🎉

Unfortunately, that's how Mr. Murphy's law works in reality. It should really be, "Any thing that can go wrong, will go wrong, but only after you think you've fixed it." :ROFLMAO:

I learned very early on during my racing career that problems never fix themselves, and when the final failure occurs, it'll cost you a podium spot for sure.

especially this year...

self fixing. Nice!

Definitely. Gonna be a hot one. Hopefully I can keep the dog cool... I'm probably gonna be buying a bag of ice everyday morning!

☹️ Boo I sure hope not. I thought I found an open drain valve in the water tank, but filling it and messing with it, it won't drain. Maybe it's currently in the middle of failing!

Luckily I don't actually need either in Moab, the KOA is bougie and I can go to a gas station for air if I have to

I've got extra air

Wouldn't want you to run out, though!!

Since I only air up before heading home I can't imagine it being difficult to find a way if the compressor acts up again

I'll bring my meter, maybe we can figure out why it wasn't happy

True, but if you leave a problem alone it gets easier to diagnose once it's grenaded 🤣

On my personal vehicles, I've used this technique to great effect, normally out of time constraints. On race vehicles, or those my wife drives, not so much, but for different reasons. For the former, sponsors really don't like it when you don't finish races, and without sponsors, it's soup-kitchen time. For the latter, well, you know - "happy wife, happy life!" Come to think of it now, that's the same reason - "happy sponsor, happy life!" may not rhyme, but it works! :ROFLMAO:

I had pretty much forgotten that when I got new control arms, I didn't get front upper arms. I was still running OEM arms. So I decided to finally address that, hoping it might improve steering a bit and will be stronger.

I picked up these Core4x4 double adjustable JJ arms on their father's day sale. In my favorite color 🙂 it used to cost extra to get colors!

Got them both installed yesterday. Installing new parts the day they show up, with no hiccups, inconceivable!!!

The rest of my arms are single adjustable, and it was significantly easier getting this in than those were. Really wished I had splurged for that on the other arms, oh well. I was poorer back then.

The old original arms looked better than expected. Probably not a big source of any steering looseness. Oh well.

First a quick fix today:

to

My fan clutch seems to have failed while in Moab 2 weeks ago, so I went ahead and replaced that. I got a Hayden 2737, I think that's the heavy-duty replacement.

Unbolt the shroud, remove the fan and clutch

Bolt the fan onto the clutch

And boom fixed

I think it will be hot in the next 2 days so I can run it and see if it goes back to managing heat at idle. The old clutch had next to 0 friction when trying to spin it by hand and the new one is tighter, so that is a good sign.

Big news, although not jeep related. For those of you that don't know, I have a project car 1987 Toyota MR2 that I got with a blown engine. I'm swapping a 2013 Camry 2.5L 2AR-FE motor and 2003 Camry e351 5 speed manual in.

Well, for the first time, it started and idled!

Pretty exciting. Should be a lot more motivated to fab up a coolant and exhaust system for it.
