Can't start a build thread without a place to build

If I had a 40x60 shed/garage/building, I would have 40x60 worth of toys. So jealous of those who live in rural areas with land to do these things. There I live, each house is literally 20 feet from each other.I have a small 2 car garage and 1.5 car carport side by side and that just about takes up the width of my lot. The only three things that keep me from having 6 cars and a boat are 1) no room, 2) insurance is ridiculous in Florida, and 3) a desire to retire before I am 75 (i.e money).

Your building is coming along very nicely. You are gonna need some more TJ's to fill that space. Congrats...

It’s a lot of work keeping it all in tip top shape also and always some regristration or something is doe. Lol but it worth the fun and options on what to do.
Poor shed will be almost full already.

Well looks like I miss under stood part of our decision for the heated side. I thought only bench and electrical box wall where wood on inside. But all four are wood eight feet up. I don’t know how I want to lay out the bench/ mezzanine side. So I can’t do a ton of electrical there and was going to run all of it outside wall. But now with it being 8 feet all the way around. I took off work today to run all my outlets and light switches. Power for compressor, radiant heat and put in all my welding outlets. So it’s in the wall.

I wanted to update the thread. Dave’s had several sleepless nights now that he decided at the last minute to run the electrical in the walls. Progress! Love it ! Can’t wait to post today’s progress.

Update on progress. They got the ceiling in the finished side.

Dave got the electrical installed on the finished side after several sleepless nights.

This is the outdoor motion light we decided on.

We are trying to decide on how to stain the plywood. We were thinking either burning the wood or staining it a gray color. I’m leaning towards the stain as the burnt look is nice in small doses, but a bit much for larger areas. Here’s an example.

I’m thinking more gray stained like this.

I'd mix it up a bit ...all burnt or all grey could look a bit much...

yeah much easier to do all that stuff while its empty....used to be a thing called a 'feature wall', where you paint one wall one way the rest another which may work for you guys..... the other its just doing the door or surrounds (trim) in the burnt style....which anyway you do it it'll look great

My vote is for gray. Reflects light better for a brighter area.

More progress. Thought it would be done by tomarrow, hard to say, but the doors won’t be on . Those are installed by another company.

The workshop is getting closer to done. The builders are gone. Now we have to get the rest of the electrical done, seal the floor, and stain the walls on the finished side. @Dave K. got it heated up inside enough to start the stain, but the propane ran out . Baby steps. We will get there. I like how the gray stain turned out so far.

We Continue to work on the shop. @Dave K. got a lot of the electrical done out there, now I’m sitting without power in the house while he switches out the 100 amp to a 200 box which will eventually cover both the house and shop. We have all but one wall stained the gray, then I guess I need to seal it. Hoping to find somewhere that states it’s fine if I don’t. It is a good arm and leg workout for sure. I can’t wait until we get closer to having it complete. But progress is being made.

I can’t stand how full daves already got it! How did we live without this space. Now I’m realizing this has given him permission to buy more stuff to fill the space. Ugh.........

Last weekend when my son and his girlfriend were visiting Dave built some steps for my stubby ass to get to the shop. Pretty impressed for his first steps build using scrap wood .

Thursday night while Dave worked, my job was to burn a bunch of sticks and vines that Dave pulled down from the trees while the builders had their lift at the house. I like to burn things! I don’t know why Dave and my friend were nervous. Hehe......

Well we are making slow progress on the garage. We got the floor sealed, walls stained and sealed, and dave is almost done installing the lift. As suspected, the electrical is still not hooked up. That has turned out to be somewhat of a cluster . But I’m pretty impressed with Dave doing all the wiring in the shop. Now to get it hooked up to the soon to be 200 amp in the house which will also be run to the garage. I can’t wait to start using the lift !

wow @Kathy ...Ive seen professional mechanics with less room and no lift and you have it 30 feet from your doorstep haha...awesome job and well done to @Dave K. for all they wiring too...I bet you'll be glad when its all done ?

I know we will be sitting pretty once it’s done. I have to keep remembering that as we continue to work to get to completion. Dave’s brother came over to fix his car today which he’s never come over since I’ve been with Dave. This garage is going to be good for many reasons it looks like.
