Project "Frankentrailer"

Well, technically, this isn't a TJ build. It's more a YJish build, but not, lol! This will be a trailer tub build utilizing two YJ tubs. My buddy Lowranger spearheaded this project by showing up at my work with two junk yard YJ tubs.

We took the tubs out to his place to begin by getting them cleaned up.

With the tubs relatively cleaned up, it was time to devise a plan for some sawzall surgery...

So, we have the makings of a trailer of sorts.

With the two tubs pieced together, we took them back to the welding shop at work to figure out how to piece them together.

It's not pretty but it's one piece. Nothing some grinding and undercoating can't hide.

The grey tub was pretty rough, so some body work and additional stitching up was needed.

Lowranger found me a TJ tailgate, and another jeep buddy found a CJ7 tailgate. This is a budget build, so all the help from my friends was greatly appreciated.

Another jeep buddy who is a welder/fabricator made a 3 axis hitch on the cheap.

CL came thru with a couple Canyons.

Sold the YJ family bar off the old tub for $50.

Yet another donation, some TJ tail lights, and some diamond plate aluminum.

Needed a way to cover the fuel doors on the corners of the tub, so the diamond plate with some massaging did the trick.

More jeep buddies to the rescue. They found me an abandoned jet ski trailer with in tacted suspension. Budget build, remember? So springs and axle were acquired. One side needed a new hub and bearings.

Frame painted and ready to assemble.

Undercoated the bottom of the tub.

Spruced up the wheels a bit.

Co-worker had some 32" BFG's he was getting rid of. Score!
