Purchased my first TJ

I got my steering stabilizer only to realize there was already one on it. So we took it off and checked it over. It seems to be in good shape. The bushings on the sway bar links, however, look like shit

With this, you've learned.
It's common misconception of how a steering stabilizer is designed to perform.
The steering stabilizer is exactly as it sounds, it's job is to stabilize/dampen the steering system.
If there are underlying issues, it will NOT fix them, but will only cover the issue for a short time.
Depending on the dampener, it can actually cover up some pretty serious issues.

Technically speaking, if your steering system is perfect, you don't need a stabilizer to drive well.

This goes back to my original statement that I truthfully think it'd be in your best interest of time/money/effort to just go ahead and do the ZJ steering conversion. That way you KNOW for fact that the entire system is functioning properly. All bushings, tie rod ends, bars, etc are in good shape.

It's budget friendly, and eliminates most of the "fix this, then fix that, then go back and fix this again".
It's just as easy as repairing the factory TJ stuff, and is equally as expensive. (I think in total I paid like $240)

At that point, it'll be loads easier to track down issues.

If you've got money to burn, the Correctlync kit is by far one of the best "bulletproof" steering systems you can put on the TJ.
But it cost about double what the ZJ conversion does, and in my opinion isn't worth the price unless you plan to do some heavy offroading.

ZJ conversion is more than adequate for on-road and medium off-road capabilities.

Could you send a link?

So if I buy the crown hd steering kit, it includes Drag Link, Tie Rod, Adjusting Sleeves, Tie Rod Ends, and Hardware. What is it replacing from my current set up, if anything? Like is there anything on my current set up I’m taking off and not replacing?

Will I still have sway bar links? Because I just bought a set with ball joints

I don't have any personal experience with the Crown kit, so I can't give an opinion on whether it's good or not.

No. You're essentially just removing/Replacing your components with new/better components.

Yes. You'll still be able to use them.
Swaybar will be untouched.

Here's a picture of when I did the same conversion on mine. You can save, to make sure everything is installed back properly.

Excellent Thanks for your patience with my ignorance!

I keep mine pretty stock so I'm not much help on anything lifted.

Your priorities should be about safety and functionality first. The bells and whistles will follow.

You and your husband are doing great on all this, BTW.

Oh, we also went to replace the O2 sensor and it wasn’t even connected! The clip on the line it connects to (not the sensor) was broken. So I taped them back together and my check engine light is now off. We tried to trace the line but are struggling to see how we can get to it or what it is that we need to replace.

See here: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/the-official-jeep-wrangler-tj-oxygen-o2-sensor-thread.4068

I recommend you replace all of the O2 sensors at the same time.

It seems 10x tougher than it actually is.
Once you buy the parts, it's really just as simple as take one part off, put the new part back in its place.

Super straight forward & simple.
Toughest part is alignment afterwards.

But theres write-ups here on the forums for that as well!

Yeah once I wrap my brain around what’s supposed to be happening, I do ok. Lol I have read the alignment stuff and feeling intimidated but by the time I replace the rest of this crap maybe I won’t be anymore 😅

You are hitting all the right buttons for this group. What’s the bike in the background of your avatar?

Welcome to the forum.
