Suspect's LJ Build

Thanks man I appreciate it! Yeah I really think these racelines look great on tjs.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you experience any additional vibrations with the savvy skid?

Right now my jeep is perfectly smooth even at 80 (when it eventually gets there lol) andI’ve read 5.38s and 35s can be problematic for some people. I’m a little worried to throw another factor in the equation and experience the vibration issues others have had.

Yes, after I did the Savvy MUA I had more vibrations in general. I clearanced the transmission and tub and went back to a OEM style motor mount with a spacer and still it’s more vibrations than stock.

After I regeared to 4.56 I got harmonic vibes at 73mph. I’m still happy because I don’t drive 73mph too often, but I do wish it was as smooth as stock.

how much would you say the vibration increase was over stock if you had to give an approximation? 10%? 20%? or hard to tell?

That savvy MUA is still for sale near me at a good price but I'm having trouble deciding lol

The vibrations are worth the clearance and aesthetics IMHO.

I'd say 20%. If my rpms are at idle is when the vibes are bothersome. Sitting at lights and things like that.

If I'm driving the vibes level out due to higher rpm's.

YMMV

20% is definitely worth the upsides it brings.

thanks for your help!

If you can, do some smart things like keep your exhaust going out the back if you can figure it out, use a resonator in the exhaust line. Make sure nothing is touching the tub (transmission, TCase). Use Clevite bushings in the Savvy crossmember/transmission mount. OEM motor mounts. Anything else you can think of. From all I've read you will inevitably get more vibes with the Savvy MUA. It is a compromise, but a good build will always have compromises. I just try to make good ones.

I know i should've got some real rock sliders but i just couldn't bring myself to drill holes in the tub, its something I'm gonna have to get over eventually.

Came back to look at your rig one more time! LOL.

Once you drill that first hole for rock sliders, cutting into things will get much easier.

haha thanks dude, i gotta catch up on your build thread!

I don't think i trust my self to mount the sliders if I'm being honest, i can do a fair amount at home but with my luck i will probably mount them crooked or something ridiculous and it would drive me crazy every time i look at it. :ROFLMAO:

I'll probably take it to a shop that's done it a hundred times to make sure it comes out perfect.

I've got a Savvy MUA and no noticeable vibes at idle or under load. I've got an LJ with M.O.R.E. 1" MML, 1" BL and an SYE. My exhaust is a turn down just off the muffler. Maybe I got lucky, but seems it is possible.

There are some great install instruction on here. I thought it was easy, and I’m not even a good shade tree mechanic, but mine are straight and proper.

Did you vibe test if before the rubicrawler went in? I had some vibes that the rubicrawler eliminated.

I did all of my mods as once, so no creeping up on the final configuration. Good point though if the Rubicrawler impacts vibes, then I am not a good data point for a non modified 42RLE.

I should say my vibes went away with the rubicrawler installation, doesn't mean the rubicrawler itself corrected it but something I did made a change.

With the rumored redesign coming I panicked and bought the full savvy skid system along with the MML/BL. It really wasn’t in the budget right now but I know I would be kicking myself if I didn’t buy it now and they make some undesirable changes in the future (I hope that’s not the case).

I spoke with Gerald and confirmed everything was in stock before ordering got all the parts in about a week later.

Gonna read every forum post on this before I tackle this project.

Ashamed to admit the savvy skid is still sitting in my shed instead of under the jeep. Works been busy so I haven’t had much time, hopefully I get around to it this month.

I was greasing the front end of the jeep when I noticed my front lower control arm makes contact with the shock mount when the axle is fully drooped. Any ideas how I can fix this?
