Savvy Mid-Arm Deliveries?

What's the midarm actually holding up? You should be able to do most things without much consideration. For example: relocate spring perches, outboard, get your travel dialed in, tummy tuck, body lift/raise frame mounts, etc. With careful consideration the midarm can eventually be added (that's my plan, anyway).

Over the 4th of July I just ordered 12” shocks from Fox for outboarding the rear. The front 11” are on back order till May they told me. I was going to do the shocks before the mid arm, but now I may just collect parts till I have everything to do it all at once.

I went used for both sets, since I was quoted over a year for either. I'd say I got a good deal on both given inflation and lead time...

I figured I would let them be on back order for a bit, if I get some time I’ll look for used. I still need to order shock towers.

I bought my LJ with one of those goofy Rubicon Express long-arm kits already installed by the PO. I suspect that cycling that suspension to dial in the shock locations will result in issues (unforeseen conflicts) once I get the mid-arm installed, but maybe not.
If it has the tri-link, that is a wise choice since that set up moves the pinion around more than you would suspect. That suspension is the reason I started rotating the frame spring perches to flat since I couldn't get the bump stops to make contact unless I did.
Also, I'm lifting the body with a Genright body mount lift, and some of those occupy the same frame real estate as the brackets for the mid-arm mounts, so having those brackets would be really helpful to not have to do things twice.
Even wiser choice. The front and middle mounts are fine, the rear one lands partially on the frame C on the left side, fully on it for the right side. If it was not an Unlimited, the front left GR mount would land on the frame C but you already have a reinforcement from the factory there.
I also can't do the tummy tuck without cobbling together an interim suspension because the RE long-arm kit has a platform that hangs down that everything connects to.

I also don't know anyone near me with a Savvy mid-arm to look at and measure, so I don't have the option of seeing the "finished product" during my build.

Just too many possibilities for conflict in the build process...

W'all love the Savvy parts designed and developed by mrblaine and "defend" how they work at any chance we get. I don't know anybody that "defends" the Savvy business model.

I dunno I seem to read “but but but they’re a race shop” on a weekly basis around here. Defending and justification for their actions are one in the same here.

I ordered an entire control arm set from Savvy and the 231 shift cable and it was about 3 weeks from order to ship time (I ordered last month)

That's an understandable point of view. However, companies designing high-end products meant for a very small niche of people with the need and ability to appreciate a superb design and able to pay for it don't always have the volume of sales to support adding staff.

Jerry,
I have been contemplating your response, because I didn’t want to shoot from the hip with my response, because I am mad at Savvy. I understand that yes they do make a good product, but what it comes down to is bad customer service is bad customer service it doesn’t matter if it’s a multi million dollar company or a company with 10 employees. People on this forum seem to back Savvy no matter what and claim that they have the best parts, which is probably true. But those parts don’t do me any good when I can’t put it on my vehicle! I have emailed them, Messenger them and called to no response! You guys can love on them all you want, but I am done with them if I ever get my parts! Thanks for listening!

Do they actually back Savvy or the quality of the parts? There is a difference.

Good observation. I don't like the customer service, but do appreciate a quality product that is functional, reasonably priced (compared to what others offer), well though out, and proven. That said, you can back one, but not the other!

Today's clown world is just that, a fucking clown world. Anytime some fuckwit puts up a used, reasonably good condition AEV TJ hood for sale with a price of 2200 dollars, it is fucked and not getting better at all. There is a large contingent of folks who are fully enamored with Nemesis. We just installed a set of their high line fenders. When the owner saw the bullshit we were having to deal with, we removed them and put them back in the box. This is the hood gap on a typical high line hood we use. It is correct with only very minor mods needed to make it fit. The fenders are at the upper limit of the slots at the firewall.

This is after slotting the holes to move the fender higher.

The front of the fender is way too high but we could have fixed that. The two things we can NOT fix are the goofy lack of real estate to mount anything.

And almost the worst part, they have a complex battery tray with a very specific hold down that has a tab into a slot on one side and bolts down on the other. In their infinite short sighted wisdom and being full on shit fucking designers, they made it fit ONLY an Optima battery with no other options. The two components of the mount and tray are so complex and convoluted that you can't modify the Optima version and depend on the strength.

The final straw that put them back in the box was having to cut the Savvy aluminum backer and also trim back the steel slider.

I think the reason Savvy and their business practices are such a touchy subject is because it really comes down to personal ideologies and expectations. I absolutely despise their business practices and believe there is no excuse for them. However, their products are incredibly well-designed (thanks, Mr. Blaine!), and if they are made correctly (sometimes they have quality issues*), they really have no equal. Is it worth putting up with the wait, the occasional QC problems, and the complete and utter lack of communication? Positively maybe. By that, I mean that only you can answer that question. My answer is "yes," but ask me again in another few months, and it may be a different answer. It's complicated...

*I've seen postings of tummy tuck parts where the bend radii were too small, I've seen postings of the wrong fasteners being included with the steering skid kit, and I personally received a front bumper with the winch plate mounting holes 1" off center (that didn't really bother me because I have an M8274 that doesn't mount like most winches and couldn't use those holes anyway).

Amen. Any hack with a pile of cash can start making and selling a product, and this is done all the time. Making a good product is much more challenging. Making a great product is a rare accomplishment. It takes incredible diligence, as you know.

That bend radius is hard to catch. That isn't a full Savvy issue and the difference between fault and responsibility. I'm going through very similar issues right now. 5000 steering knuckles in and somehow my machinist managed to completely fuck up one side while the other side is perfect. We have a QC check, we 100% check the first 10 sets, then every 4th or 5th set when they get painted. I said to check a pair, I neglected in my stupidity of not fully understanding human nature that I needed to specify that a pair is not 2 knuckles but is in fact a right and a left. The continual checking of a pair of rights fucked me hard.

I have the JJ washers made by a top notch machine shop. They have done 1000's flawlessly. The last batch was a bit loose end to end in the slot, I had them tighten it back up to previous levels of fitment. Get the order of 500 in, fit the slot perfectly. Go to use some yesterday, slot fitment is perfect, damn hole is too small for the bolt. They have never a single time had an issue with that dimension, now all of a sudden, they miss it by a mile.

None of that is my fault, but it is my responsibility to find and correct before it goes to the customer.

Agree. Its a bummer we can't get their stuff all the time. One thing I'll point out is that Savvy prices are reasonable for the quality. I would likely buy more stuff if they raised the cost and used it to improvement service and product availability.
