Milestar Patagonia 15k Mile Review

I had similar thoughts when I heard it. Seems like that would just prematurely wear the center rib, just like what happens with every other tire when run overinflated. Unless they've figured out some magical combination of rubber formulation to make the rib wear at the same rate as the outer lugs despite the outer lugs barely making contact with the pavement.

It's all just curiosity for me at this point as they don't offer a size that interests me. I want a 33-34" tire no wider than 11.50, they don't make a 33x10.50x15 and the 285 or 295/70R17 are 10 ply/load range E. They're also about 5 pounds heavier per tire than a KM3 in the same size. All in all it adds up to a less comfortable ride and no money saved (after buying 17" wheels) for a tire whose chief advantage is cost.

Yeah, not going to get in an argument over this one, but I have been running them at a standard TJ pressure (28-29), and yes, they wear more towards the center for highway driving. Airing down brings the outer lugs into play. Design flaw or not, I have not had any issues so far. Actually think it might be a bit better when using these in the rain due to less width on the contact patch and more of an A/T pattern towards the center.

To date I have not really had any issues with them. I have about 7,000 miles on mine. Rotated them twice.

As many know and have seen, these tires have been wheeled pretty hard by many people. They seemed to have held their own in this department compared with the majors. I run BFG MTs on my other two Jeeps, so I am certainly not against the majors, but thought I would give these a fair shot.

Pretty impressed with them so far for the price. Found them on sale when I bought, so for the price I paid, I feel like it was worth the try.

Design flaw or not, I'd be willing to give them a try for the price if they made a size that worked for me.

Does this alter the crown at all? Or is it still a crowned tire with an altered crown?

It's whatever Milestar claims it is, plus what I will do to mess that up. I came into this set with medium expectations, and so far I haven't been disappointed. At this point, I have the sense that my worn out Cooper ST Maxxes had better grip than these new Patagonias.

Are you doing the modification to attempt to gain grip?

After you see the detailed description of why they designed the tire like that you'll see that you're wrong. You might not agree with their design choice but that doesn't change the fact that it was designed like that.
Please post a link to this information. I'm sure people here would find it useful. I probably wont run the tires but it seems like you might help people out posting it. Please don't post the youtube video, we all know that was made after the complaints.

You're clearly just going to discount anything as "they're just making shit up because of complaints" so why bother?
I read your post and took the time to look on Milestars site, I didn't find anything. I worded my post as nicely as I know how to. Obviously I'm skeptical but not to the point of discounting your comments.

What they do have does not match what I’ve heard from Litebrite and I see nothing saying to treat their MT’s different on their site.

I have no skin in this, but I will say if someone has designed a tire to not have full contact with the section width, you are giving up massive amounts of steering and braking input.

These are not motorcycles and should have the full section in contact. Otherwise, I’d avoid them if the manufacturer suggests such nonsense.

For cheap tires, I’ve been super happy with my Thailand “Thunderer” brand MT’s. I paid $99 a piece for 33x12.50x15’s, figured for that kind of money I’m giving them a shot and have 4K miles so far, they work!
