Used to troll for stipers on Lake Castaic from time to time. Never caught one that size but they are good eating. There isn't a better way to spend a morning. These days for me it's mostly surf perch and trout from the sierras.

I feel the same way about golf.I took up fishing when I retired just over 7 years ago. I've never enjoyed something I'm so bad at so much.
Well done that young lady!I lived on a lake in Wisconsin when I was kid, so it was a given. Now, as an old fart, not so much. I hope to change that when I retire in 18 months.
But, in the summer of ‘16, we had our oldest granddaughter visiting from Maine. She asked if I would take her fishing because her Dad doesn’t fish.
Her first fish.

My Dad taught me fly tying when I was 8 and I had a lot of fun doing it. Haven’t done it in decades, but with my own grandkids, I think it’s time to start again. One of my biggest regrets in life was being to stubborn when my grandfather tried to teach me fly tying. That was over 40 years ago.
So much good fishing up near you!I like to fish, usually rivers and streams for small trout. I quit for like 20 years but I’ve been getting back into it with my son since he has an interest in it. I realize I really miss it.
Awesome, I do similar trips multiple times each summer but I don’t have horses lol. That’s probably a real game changer! I Love high mountain lakes and streams. The trout might be small but they sure are pretty. Two weeks after I retired, my wife and I loaded up our horses and Headed to the Marbel Mountain Wilderness area in Northern California. Growing up in Northern California I always fished small creeks. As I got older, I also really liked fishing high mountain lakes. So we headed out with our 3 horses and rode 7 hours into the wilderness and set up camp at a high mountain lake and fished and camped for 5 days. We had the whole place to ourselves. We had one pack horse to take in everything we would need.View attachment 158163View attachment 158164View attachment 158165View attachment 158166View attachment 158168View attachment 158169
